Burnley's Andre Gray - What do you think?

So, he's been heavily fined and banned for 4 games for homophobic remarks on social media made 4 years ago when he was still a non-league player. Is it fair that Burnley; who desperately need every point and every goal they can get; should be punished as a team for something one of their players did way before he ever joined them? If Andre Gray was a first choice regular for Man Utd or City, Spurs, Chelsea or Liverpool would he still be getting a 4 game ban? I imagine Burnley are feeling very hard done to in private, publicly they have been dignified beyond fair reason.

I don't think it's fair that they punish him now for something he did 4 years ago. It's not like it was a secret for all these years and has just come to light as he posted it on social media. As far as I am aware, he's not done it since so a slap on the wrist should have sufficed.

Homophobia amongst the west indian/african  community is rife and really  needs dealing with, irrespective of the time frame  anything less than a ban would have been seen as giving it the ok, so IMO he  deserves his ban, However the fa need media boys need a kickup the arse for not picking it up b4.

'unnecessary discrimination in itself'

nonsense unfortunately it very much is necessary , In Jamaica men are killed for being gay, Africans i know have told me that if their son was gay they would dis own them and they meant it. So public figures from either of these communities or any community making these nonsense discriminatory statements v much need action taking against them as they would expect if the statements were made against their particular minority.

andre gray is from wolverhampton. he's nothing to do with jamaica or africa as far as i know. so stop making it about skin colour when it isn't, there's plenty of white homophobes to go around as i'm sure you know full well.

back to the topic, it's ridiculous that they're charging him for this so far down the line. making a show of themselves as usual.

^^^ this might just be about this comment to you , but it aint to me,  i've lived  worked and played  in and amongst the west indian and african communities for decades and I genuinely like them, however there is an issue amongst them and unfortunatly its growing and not getting any better and tbh it really needs sorting and unfortuantly its right from the oldest reinforcing it passing and down to the youngest  and its rampant homophobia, so when a black player

rants about homobobia  then i thinks it very much is part of the debate, you want to ignore it your shout , as for the misdomeener cos its ??? 4 years ago, again your shout  but imagine, 'yeah ok you dipped out of paying ??  tax , but hey its cool it  was 4 years ago', or 'you did this or that ,, but thats ok it was ? years ago', no worries we'll let you of cos it was ?? years ago',   me i reckon  irrespective of time lapse the comment   got what it  deserved.

Dont know what you reckon but if i were sticking ?? mil into some one/thing,  certainly given todays climate around social media  i'de want to know his social media history,  with transfers  as it stands, as with houses up to a few years ago, its v much buyer beware so it could be argued burnley were remiss.

Bangrak Bob, must be a first for a scouser to be called a f--ckin red neck eh ;-)
Using that term I'm assuming Intensified must be a septic.

 definitely a first, but not the worst.

My parents went to a gay marriage last week, twas the funniest story i'd enjoyed on Skype for a while. If you can imagine a mid 60's Irish woman and Wiganer explaining it, <deleted>' hilarious. I was actually very proud of their progress in acceptance of gay people, 10 years ago was a different story.

My point seems to have been missed - not unusual. Punishing the player is one thing, but punishing Burnley F.C. so harshly as well is the issue I'd like to see discussed.

club and player go hand in hand mate, in other spheres it woould be called ' due diligence' as i said b4 it could be argued burnley were remiss not properly investigating their investment, bet your <deleted> clubs will be doing a bit more reseaearch on their investments ,, oh wait a mo its football,, and ,,,,,,,,,,

^Can not agree with that. He could have been fined. Why not put on some kind of community scheme(punishment). Why punish a club he's playing for 4 years later. Something not right.

^^^ the only thing 'wrong' is your train of thought, think about real life things  YOU  buy, a car for eg  you buy it with  the faults or if you get it checked b4 u negotiate and or you buy it knowing whats going on,  you ever buy anything NOT knowing whats happening than in REAL life i dont think it'd be unfair to be called , at best dumb dumb, why the f should football be any diferent ? ans, it isnt and or it shouldnt be, or do you think cos its football it should be allowed to exempt, tbh irrespective of time lapse i'de jail the <deleted>,  that would soon put an end to homophobic nonsence going on within that community. but there you go.

Following your logic, Intensified, do you think Andre Gray's previous clubs; Luton and Brentford; should be retrospectively punished? They didn't do their due diligence either.
