Maybe because it's in little demand, wonder what the shipping costs would

Sorry, only saw your original post -- missed your last requirement. You would have to check with World Chemical, but it's likely industrial (for pools) rather than edible ....

Contact @tierlock .  I think it was 250g for 300 baht with EMS shipping (food grade also).   Worked out well.

 

A friend of mine ordered from a different source (overseas??), I will try to find out where.

PipingRock has some good prices on these things;  I can confirm from a friend .  The airmail shipping from USA is reasonable, but you may have to buy a lot for the savings.  @Tierlock is worth a shot deal if you just want a small test amount.

as mentioned I do have Diatomite amorphous type freshwater foodgrade. Product from Mexico. It is a ultra fine powder ( less than 10 microns ) that is safe to use on pets ( and even as a supplement ).

As to order from the States, I am not sure about what customs will think when it comes to a white powder substance... That is a risk I won't take but I can be wrong.

I ordered 2 bottles of DE from vitacost.  Vitacost shipping is $10 to Thailand. It arrived no problem.  You can find it on lazada now too but more expensive.

My orders from vitacost and iherb take around 3-4 weeks.

 

2 bottles of this(3 lbs total) for about 890 baht with shipping.  Hard to beat that price here.

Diatomite is mined in Lampang and there are usually several hundred kilos for free beside the road wherever they transport it. Is that food grade?

 

Most of the pits are unattended so it would also be easy to carry a large boulder of it back to your vehicle as it weighs almost nothing.
