Step down transformer

Featured Replies

I need a 220/240 volt to 110/120 volt step down transformer. Cycles are not an issue.

I live in Issan, in the vicinity of Amnat Charoen,  Mukdahan,  Nakon Phanom.

Anybody know of a shop where I can get one IN THIS AREA.

BKK, Pattaya won't help.

Lazada has them, but they can't deliver in less than 3 weeks to a month.

Moved to here on the Isaan forum for local input.

Edit: What are using the transformer to power? How many amps or watts do you need to power it?

UbonJoe...just so you know, as a courtesy to a fellow American, I self censored my reply.

If I get no replies here, will you move it back?

It will moved. It was reported for being on the IT forum.

Since it's about a 2 1/2 hour drive to Ubon or Nonk Khai, I called the Amorn stores in Ubon & Nong Khai. Neither store answered, and strangely, both have the same phone number.

I also sent them both an e-mail inquiring if they had the transformer I need, in stock. I know it's a shock, but have not received a reply to either e-mail.

Anyone else have another suggestion, possibly in Muk or there around?

I have a couple of large 1500 watt units new in box that I brought from America because I thought I was going to bring my stereo system.  I didnt so I dont need them.  (I have a couple 500w units that take care of my printer and what not.)  Send me a message if you are interested, and I will dig them out of the container and get the specifics on them.

I am half way between Muang Buriram and LamPlaiMat

Goldsource STU-1500 Step Up & Down Voltage Converter Transformer with 5V USB Output - AC 110/220 V - 1500 Watt

OK, found the order that I made with Amazon.  I have 2 of these.  They are quite heavy.

Thanks for the offer. I need one only for a turntable that I brought from the US. The service manual shows power consumption at 5 Watts, so the 1500 W unit is a bit of overkill.

After my post on January 18, I got fed up and just ordered one on line. 400Bt & it should be here in 10 days or so.

I will mention this to a friend that has some US tools.

By the way, I still haven't got a reply to either e-mail I sent the company (what a shock). I also had my Thai neighbor try to call the location in KK for some info. They didn't answer the phone there either. Amazing Thailand, right?

Why have a website and list contact information if you have no intention on replying to an e-mail request or even answering the phone?

A thought.

You say frequency (cycles) doesn't matter but then you say it's a turntable. Is it a DC motor? Many, many turntables are synchronous and supply frequency most definitely does matter.

I know you've ordered one, but many of the mom-and-pop electrical places have them and at that power level they're not going to be expensive, worth asking if you have a suitable place nearby.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Nope - cycles don't matter. I looked at the schematic in the manual, and power goes to a 110 V AC transformer, that outputs to a DC servo motor.

I also tried it with a transformer that a friend has and all albums play as expected.

UPDATE - The transformer just arrived. Ordered from Banggood dot com on Jan 20...arrived today Jan 30....cost shipping included was 495 Bt  shipped from China...NO DUTY.

listening to the sound track from the movie On Any Sunday as I type. Sounds great.

Good experience from Banggood.

I had a YUUGE problem with Lazada regarding a return & will not use them again unless they are the only available source.

I know you won't believe this, but still no reply to either e-mail I sent to Amorn Electronics.
