I live near the Rompol market complex in Jomtiem.

I can hear music from the bars at night, no problem, its not bad and I can accept that.

But its when they have a party at a bar, noise is off the chart. Big speakers set up blasting out Isan music.

Is there anything can be done?

Sorry to say this.

But i was there yesterday having 1 or 10 chang's  and some.

I was watching the guys working on a new double shop house about half way up

on the right side,. advertised as a live music bar.

that will only be loud for sure.

OP how long have you lived there or in the area as I if you find this surprising I can only surmise not long or you don't get out much?

There has even been threads here about much worse noise problems from the open ground concerts and certain clubs like DNA. Just be thankful you don't live close to Soi Excite..........

On a positive note if you cannot sleep maybe go and join in..............:burp:

It's like people who buy a house next to the airport and complain about the planes.

True but

There are people that bought a house  next to an open field and a forest of  trees

then some git,   cut the trees down and  built  the M25   what a bummer  !!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sure Jomtien second road is a bit like that. :shock1:

Yes, was looking at this tonight and it looks ominous.

I drink in a nearby bar and I'm worried about being driven out by the noise.

I don't handle the loud noise well.

The problem in Thailand, as usual, is that they have no sense of zoning and moderation. As far as I can see the whole point of living in Jomtien is to get away from the noise pollution and crass excesses of Pattaya whilst being close enough to benefit from the advantages.

I see nothing wrong with normal bars making normal levels of music. The problems arise when the bars go into party/karaoke mode, which seems to involve deafeningly loud levels of particularly tuneless and unmusical noise.

All that said Thailand does have laws and whilst 1337 will politely take your complaint and phone the police, who will do nothing, calling 1111 does seem to get you put through to representatives of the military government who do seem to take proper note of the complaint and act on it after a while. It's not a same-day solution though and I think it helps if a Thai-speaking person calls them and, of course, the more different calls they get about the subject the more likely it is that they will react.

Yes i'm much the same.

Reckon you may get blasted out your seat,   as any Amplifier in Thailand

only has an on off switch instead of the usual volume control pot.   but never say never we could get a nice surprise  :coffee1:

If load music or football is on

i'm gone to next bar.

We used to live in VT Villa's way back when they were first built and it was so quite,  saw the bars arriving so knew it would get noisy, sold up and moved out before it became like it is now

Noise travels quite far.  When they had the motorcycle festival a few weeks ago, we could clearly hear the music from our house near the Ambassador!

Live music bar there?  Really?  Interesting....

I live opposite the Ambassador too, last year Caraboa came and did a concert  I think at the silver lake winery   I was trying to get my beauty sleep at about 11pm but the music was loud enough to shake the bedroom window  I complained to  security as I thought it was some idiot in the next door building was having a party.

The music stopped at about 12.30..they must have had about a thousand megawatts of amps and their own (coal fired) power station.

That´s just the price you have to pay when you live in Pattaya. You get a lot of beers and girls around the clock, and pay with accepting the noise.

Well just how far away do you have to go to escape the noise ?  I'm a good 13 Kilometers away from Pattaya and don't hear even the fireworks

but quite often hear the booms of artillery practice  presumably from the Satahip navel base and very often what sounds like a cat being murdered from a nearby market ( open air Karaoke ) sometime until 1AM , also every "teachers day"  we get woken at the crack of dawn  by loud and ever increasing gongs then music to pay "respect" to  someone's teacher  the noise level increases by the hour until the whole building is shaking to the "tribute"  whether you want to or not, they set up a tent with massive speaker right between two buildings  the noise is easy to hear over 1 Km away at the entrance to the estate.

( the same thing happens every year outside on the footpath of a shop on South Pattaya road opposite the Friendship supermarket )

someone extremely rich could I suppose buy an island somewhere right in the middle of nowhere.. someone else would anchor  a ship nearby with a billion watt amplifier  sods law.    Maybe a condo with nuclear bunker would keep out the noise  I hear some are being built up in Chaingmai.

Noise is a constant problem in Pattaya for me, those dam loud speaker trucks passing by every few hours, but I am back in the UK for a while in a busy seaside resort, but its so peaceful and quiet all the time

Volume is free. Haven't you people figured that out yet?

Soi Xyte triangle is the worst in South Pattaya. They have Issarn concerts about once a week and it rattles all the surrounding concrete shop houses, apartments, and brothels. Call and complain if you wish but nothing will change.
