LOPBURI: -- Police in Lopburi have made an arrest in the neck slashing murder of the son of a village elder in Tha Manao district.

Yuthana Saengkhun, 30, was found dead in some undergrowth. He was the son of Sommai Saengkhun a phoo yai ban.

Arrested on a warrant yesterday was his wife who was not named. She claimed that her husband was unfaithful and even forced her to buy him drugs, reported Thai Rath.

She admitted killing her husband saying that she was the breadwinner in the family but her husband was a leech.

She said that he ordered her to buy him Ya Ba and they arranged to meet at a rendezvous. An argument developed, she said, and she produced a box cutter and slashed him about the neck. She said her husband of two years was drunk.

However, the mother of the victim dismisses these claims as nonsense. She has told police to investigate properly as she believes that the wife who is a small woman could not have acted alone as she claimed.

The victim was a big sized man.

The mother said that 3-5 assailants were involved in her son's murder.

Police also said that a reenactment planned for yesterday had to be cancelled amid fears that 300 villagers were planning to attend and there was a likelihood of the crowd taking the law into their own hands and lynching the woman.

Police yesterday interviewed the wife in the presence of a lawyer. The wife could face the death penalty if convicted.

Being the breadwinner, she would have been better putting some aside every week, in the event of something like this happening.

At least bail would have been given, had she the financial clout..

Sounds like she did the world a favour getting rid of him.

why would the police even advertise their little demos to the public and arouse the locals to gather for a lynching? tight lips is not a police trait apparently..

Surprise, surprise...

Lawyer looks ready to yawn.

Is a divorce that hard to do ? If the guy is an ass and your not happy.. no need to kill him just divorce him.

Sounds familiar. Her dead husband was connected soooo we pretty well know how this will play out.

Hmm great theory but knowing that Thai men come with a short fuse it could be harmful to her health. Whether tomorrow or 20 years from now retribution would be in the wind and still could be. At least now she knows he is down and out for the count. Fathers work hard to make sons here and take the loss of one in a big way.
