A man followed his girlfriend to a cattle farm in Kanchanaburi in an apparent jealous rage before shooting her dead.

Then many shots were fired as a kamnan the woman had gone to visit and two employees opened fire in return.

The original shooter is in critical condition in a Kanchanaburi hospital.

Sai Yok police were called to the scene of the shootings by the kamnan himself. Dusit Fukfat, 33, is the son of the Sai Yok Noi municipal chief.

They found a pick-up truck riddled with bullets and smashed up in front. An empty magazine and a Glock automatic were recovered.

Chaowalit Phreuksakorn, 39, had been shot in the head and was rushed to hospital in Kanchanaburi town.

Fifty meters away they found the dead body of 33 year old BAAC bank employee Pornsawan Panwarin who had been shot with a 9mm gun in the chest and head.

The back window of her Toyota Altis had been shot out.

Dusit the kamnan was waiting for police. He claimed he had arranged to meet Pornsawan to talk about a bank loan for his cattle business.

Chaowalit arrived - he did not know him, the kamnan claimed. An argument developed between the man and his girlfriend.

He said that Chaowalit started shooting and the bank employee was hit. He ran in to get a gun then both himself and two of his employees aimed shots at Chaowalit.

The kamnan has been arrested and his two employees who fled into the hills are being sought.

Investigations continue.

"He ran in to get a gun...."

They've all got guns!  More like the wild west every day; let's face it, Thailand is living in the same era.  I keep expecting Wyatt Earp to make an appearance.

With the media reporting better today and people taking cell phone photos we are just hearing about it more then a few years ago.I have know about this gun and murder behaviour since the early 1970s.At least with photo evidence more of these "outlaw" types are going to the gaol..

I disagree with the "more like".  Thailand has always been "Wild West" like this and I would wager, were reliable statistics available, that it is less violent than in the past.

I have to think that I might be tempted to carry a gun myself if my name was Dusit Fukfat!

I smell corruption and a likely story... Kanchanaburi government people seem to do what ever they want. Its a real corrupt place and in fact we sit in wait of a news story with my family shot dead, burnt in rubber tires in smoky season and such for questionioning something as simple as why we have to smell charcoal smoke from next door when its illegal. The following, intimatation, discrimination, racism, etc is beyond belief. My wife is about to take her local government to court. Nothing good will come of it but from a moral perpspective considerig the behavior someone needs to stand up.

Daily i wonder if i should prepare a tv post in ready.

I've been complaining to the GF about some of the nasty attitudes of southern Thais lately and she agreed.  We had previously booked a few day holiday in Kanchanaburi for June.  She  said "wait till we get to Kanchanaburi.  You will see the people are so friendly there."  I am starting to think the GF and I have vastly different definitions of the word "friendly".

I take it, you have never been to Detroit, Dallas, Chicago, LA, DC, Houston, Philly, Las Vegas or Indianapolis......(for openers)........

I know a girl named Debbie; she's done Dallas!  But the rest are too far west of Watford.  I've seen the alligators in the Everglades, but they were no match for the criminal element in South East London, where I was brought-up.  So, I think I'll give those other places a miss, if you don't mind; I never was a fan of kindergarden antics.

Kanchanaburi is a pretty unfriendly place. Sure, theyve got the smiles but underneath from what ive been dealing with is a very primitive, racist way of thinking. In the farming areas people seem to have had no education at all. Most people around us cant even read and the officials are rolling in cash.

Its ok for a trip and will seem geeat but dont move here for a better way of life. We are now desperate to get back to the south! (Or out of the country for good)

We found as soon as we didnt buy all our neighbours land that they still try to sell which is illegal to sell/buy land type for ridiculous amounts we became hated. Thainess! Despicable.....

Travel abroad and give these officals a pay cut i think ;)

I have some relatives in Kanchanaburi area, they live on a farm and are quite poor, but not broke. The old house is not

painted, but in the area, a lot of people in other farms seemed to have the same kind of houses.  They are an old couple who

were thankfully in pretty good health.  I enjoyed the visit there, but I prefer to be near the ocean, so if I keep going to Thailand,

I will spend my time either in Jomtien Beach area, or somewhere between Pran Buri to Cha Am.  There are good and bad people all

over the world and I will not paint Kanchanaburi area any more unfriendly than anywhere else.  I had a mafia run in in Pattaya

years ago and I do not spend any time in that city

Geezer
