TRAT: -- A speedboat capsized in the Trat sea Tuesday evening and all 22 tourists were shortly rescued by a passing fishing boat, police said.

The accident happened at 6:55 pm at about 3 nautical miles from Laem Ngob.

Pol Maj Gen Kritthapol Yisakhon, the marine police chief, said the marine police and the Navy have dispatched boats to the spot to take up the tourists from the fishing boat.

By 9:30 pm, the official boats took up the tourists from Koh Poo in Tambon Nongkhasong in Trat.

Scary, especially as it happened just as it got dark. Glad to hear that everyone is okay, though I would have liked the report to have a few more details on how it happened.

These speedboats have very poor construction and are often overpowered and overloaded. Boat captains need to slow down when there are heavy seas.
