Anyone know if you void your isuzu warranty if you have it serviced by a local service guy (not isuzu dealer). He claims it's ok and he fills out service book etc. Car just about out of warranty anyway....50k km 2.5 yo. This guy's pretty reputable by all accounts and tired if getting ripped off by isuzu

Dunno, but if I was a manufacturer I wouldn't touch it if it had a problem as they will not know if the correct oil etc was used, plus manufacturers fix recall stuff that you don't know about during a service..

After the warranty runs out it doesn't matter, l use B-Quick for basic stuff, l stand there and watch what they are doing and check the containers and cartons to make sure the correct stuff is used. Had a fuel filter change to see it was a genuine Toyota part...

I am hugely surprised that an Isuzu garage is ripping you off ... my experience was first class when I owned a V-Cross.

Do you 'discuss' with the garage what your service visit involves and that you don't want any extras.

At 2.5 years I would be surprised that any other work is required unless you do a high milage.

If your battery is on the way out you can get 'odd' alarms ... just buy a new one and fit it yourself.

Suspect you may have problems if you use 'your recommended guy.

If in BK/ Nonthaburi area use Isuzu Chaengwattana ...

Ended up getting the service done at Isuzu. I'm my city there are 3 dealerships all same owner. Rang around 3 dealers...main shoo quoted 5000+ baht, 2nd shop 4000+, 3rd shop 2400 baht. Got the service done this morning and they stuck to the 2400. Even washed the car! Very happy

You don't say which D-Max ... so I don't know what was involved and anyway can't remember whether the 2.5 year service is big or small.

When I had my V-Cross serviced I used to take my own oil until they came up with 'their own branded' fully synthetic. Oil alone was more than 2400thb.

Anyway as you don't do a lot of kms and hopefully not too many five minute runs any in spec oil will do. The only difference that I noticed when I used Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel  Pickup 5W-40 was that I didn't get that initial  diesel 'clatter' that would last 3-4 seconds when I used any other oil.

Ha Ha my main dealer 50000 service on my Toyota Vigo 4 x 4 was 1200, and it was properly washed, most expensive one of the 5 so far was 1800, Isuzu far too expensive, clearly taking a leaf out of Ford, who are a stupid price, my neighbour paid 7600 for a 15000 one, crazy or what.

Mr MM (Ford Hater extraordinaire  ) and with good reason I recall   ... to the best of my knowledge Ford don't do 15,000kms services ...but I understand where you are coming from, or who you are aiming at .

1200thb for a service, includes engine oil and filter, or even just engine oil and filter . you got quite  a deal. What colour was the oil they put in ...

Yep, Ford Service is expensive compared to Isuzu and but not compared to BMW ... the only service departments that I have experienced here so far, I have yet to have the pleasure of Honda servicing.

Ford, our way charge  550thb/Hr labour. I attach, as I did somewhere else at an earlier time.Ford Service Prices ...hopefully someone will find it useful ... It's true, you pay extra for the superior product.

Below are Ford service prices Bangkok way. More ammo for you I think ......

Don't see why not most dealers would have to order it.

I have a rapport with my Cockpit outlet seen the guys doing many kinds of repairs.

I guess they draw the line somewhere,  l will ask next time l go, only go a couple of times a year.

I think you will find with many car manufacturers, particularly high end ones they will quote service intervals of 15-20k. I know in Queensland Australia Audi and VW stipulate 10k due to warmer climate and what they say are harsher driving conditions even though recommended service intervals 20k. I imagine the same would apply here

duckhams is not recommended for diesels, and I haven't seen it for years, they were one of my racing sponsors and their 2T oil is gold/brown

You have to make allowances for those who live in a 1960's time warp on here. Khun Transam was probably thinking about Swarfega.

As long as my Isuzu has factory warranty, no way would I try to save a few baht using some small shop. However, no way will I allow them to put a 990 baht bottle of crap in the vehicle again. Unfortunately my wife didn't question that ripoff. Maybe I should add that when I had the Nissan Frontier, the dealer also TRIED to sell me additives. I'd guess that it is not the manufacturer but the dealer service department that tries that rip off crap. If you think you need an additive, buy it from one of the big chain stores and put it in yourself.
