Who's your favourite James Bond?

l like the latest Daniel Craig but sort of more serious than Roger.

Roger was humorous in his Bond films.

Remember as a kid watching the Saint with Roger playing Simon Templar and driving one of my favourite car Volvo P1800 sports.

RIP  Roger.

Yes, loved him as The Saint but could never get that out of my mind when doing 007, seemed like the same personality. Have not seen many of the Bond films lately so will vote for Sean. Did you know he was once a body builder candidate.

Craig revived the franchise by bringing a harder edge to it. The older movies were fine for their day but they seem a bit silly now.

You could never do Bond today, they way Connery and Moore did it in their era. It would come out more like Austin Powers.

Anyways Craig is done, who's up next?

I think Sean Connery, the original and the best James Bond. Even Roger Moore said that.

Of course most people relate Roger Moore to playing the part of James Bond, but I remember him more fondly as Simon Templar, in the British TV series, The Saint. Run for 7 years I think.

Another link to my past gone.

In general, I don't like James Bond movies for some reason (too silly?), but Sean Connery seemed like the coolest James Bond and I actually enjoyed Pierce Brosnan in the role for some reason. Those were the only ones I watched since I was a child.

They were all pretty stupid and unbelievable films no matter who played them, even as a youngster i found them unconvincing but perhaps they weren't meant to be taken seriously.

According to Daniel Craig (in 2012), Mike Myers lampooned so much of what was standard fare in Bond films, they had to "go darker."

Quote

The James Bond Movies Had to Go Darker Because "Mike Myers f—-d us"

With the announcement of the title and cast of the 24th James Bond movie this week, MI6 Confidential found a quote from Daniel Craig that explains why Austin Powers forced them to go a darker direction.

Is like trying to compare heavyweight boxers, who was the best Ali, Tyson, Foreman etc

since being a sprog have always loved 007 Bond movies, and IMO they have all been good for their time, I thought lazenbury was good and never knew why they dropped him after one movie (I'm sure its not the reason officially given)

Most accomplished real actor is Dalton (RSC) but out and out Movie star is Connery, best one liners being Moore, best realistic action man Craig, best all rounder of these elements Brosnan. reckon if Craig is not doing anymore then Idris Elba would be pretty dam good

Reckon Moore had the best of the 'Bond' girls though I getting an instant boner whenever they replay Octopussy and he gets a grip of Maud Adams in that palace full of pussy... Ahh, James you want to play with my little octo-pussy...?

RIP Roger, I watched him in everything since Ivanhoe.

I liked Schawn Connery too.

The later Bonds you have to remember the times they were made in. Things like Innuendo was not fashionable when Dalton was in the role.

I quite enjoyed Brosnan, but I find Craig too serous.

Sir James Bond - David Niven anyone?

Niven was a spoof, not a real Bond.

Idris Elba? Nah he's a great actor but Bond he is not.  Fassbender I reckon but also Henry cavill could be in for it. Prefer cavill myself.

If you read the books no Bond is actually like the Bond in the books. Apparently when Iain Fleming met big Sean he was shocked. His character was supposed to be a small unassuming guy. The big fella turned up flexing muscles and sporting the "Scotland Forever" tat :)

That didn't appear to be the opinion of Lee Marvin who allegedly said of Moore, after a stage fight in Shout at the Devil got out of hand, "The guy is built like granite. Nobody will ever underestimate him again"

Much of his dialogue in the film was overdubbed by George Baker (Lazenby assumes Baker's geneaologist character). George Baker better known in the UK as Ruth Rendell's Inspector Wexford.

To be filmed partly in Thailand.... this guy seems promising !

At least more suave than  "russian thug" Craig !

AND FOR ONCE IN DECADES.... A REAL BOND THEME SONG AGAIN

Lazenby actually rejected the offer to do more Bond films, something I'm sure he must regret, but says he doesn't. Watch "Becoming Bond" a documentary (featuring George himself) on how Lazenby came to be James Bond and why he rejected further roles.

Sorry for not being clear. It was Connery that was the body builder.

You are correct

Quote

Sean Connery never participated in the Olympics, but was once a competitive bodybuilder and is said to have placed 3rd in the 1953 Mr. Universe tall man’s division. He was also an artist’s model at the Edinburgh College of Art, a laborer, a truck driver, a lifeguard, a coffin polisher, and a member of the Royal Navy. Connery eventually chose the life of an actor over playing professional football (called soccer in the U.S.) for the UK’s East Fife team.

I have to confess I was blown out of the water and thoroughly spoilt by this franchise!

I actually liked Renner in the role more than Damon but I realise I'm probably a  minority. Renner to me added more character to the role.
