Five arrested for ganja instead as soapy massage raids uncover nothing!

BANGKOK: -- Daily News reported a police raid at several soapy massage parlors in Huay Khwang turned up nothing illegal.

So the cops surrounded a local apartment building and dragged in five youths for smoking pot.

Meanwhile it was hardly surprising that nothing was going on at two of the places raided - they had already been shut a long time ago.

These were Nataree Entertainment and Thanthip Ab Ob Nuat (soapy massage).

Nataree was shuttered last year in a high profile caser leading to several top policemen at Huay Khwang being transferred to inactive posts.

Also raided at the weekend were Emmanuelle and Maldives but the local cops and Region One chief Wacharapong Damrongri found everything hunky dory and licenses all in order.

So the Somboon Apartment building in nearby Pracha-uthit Road was surrounded and five people were arrested there instead.

That'll be right, raid  a place that has been shutdown long time ago..

who's the Intel source of the cops?  Bozzo the clown?

so in order not come back empty handed and eggs on their face,

they got some people on petty ganja charge... way to go BKK police....

Hysterical incompetence. They try to raid a place they shut down a year ago, and then to save some face, nick some kids smoking pot. Given the impromptu nature of the additional raid, they almost certainly didn't have a search warrant, but Hey, since when has abiding by the law, been a thing of importance for the cops here?

It just shows how much authority the authorities have over the common Thai.  They do not even try to do subtle police work.  Just barge in and rouse the place.  Then to save face  collar a couple of pot smoking kids.  Criminals not as scary as these guys.

In the real world, before a warrant is applied for, visits by officers, usually undercover, are made to gather evidence of wrongdoing to justify the magistrate/judge issuing the warrant. Also the licence register is checked.

Further observations are carried out and a raid planned, making sure all exits can be covered and sufficient officers are provided to deal with the likely numbers and level of violence anticipated.

Then, when the observing officers confirm illegal activity is currently taking place, the strike is called, and everybody lives happily ever after.

It's very simple, but seems to be just a fairy tale here. Raiding closed premises, a joke!

And the government is up in arms about the unfair characterization of Thailand as a tourism destination.  BiB seem to take 2 steps forward in their quest for favorable news coverage on the facade of increasing professionalism and reliability.... then you get this.  3 steps back.

Lol@closed down premises being raided??????

Maybe deliberately going to the wrong places to find nothing.

Right places tipped off well in advance of course?

What actually happened with that cluster of Bangkok's finest being inactivated? After all, one year is a long time to be inactive.

Are they active again, i.e. creaming off the next soapies down the road now?

It´s still not legal in Thailand, so I guess they just did their work.

It just made my day, thinking of the heroic leader of the squad, walking round with a face like a smacked arse, finding that there was no bugger to threaten, get money from, persecute,or make his night worth while. So has to do the kids with a bit of puff. Oh, brave and courageous copper.:cheesy:

Only one thing more embarrassing than raiding something that is already closed is raiding an elderly persons bridge club meeting in full combat gear wearing, flack jackets and automatic weapons.

That event should be forever recorded in Wikipedia as part of Pattaya's history.

They should start using this picture for pretty much all BIB photo op's.

In the future when cannabis has been legalised, we can all look back and laugh at this madness.

The same way they periodically decide to go to tourist nightlife zones and close them down early, for no reason other than they can do so without needing to answer to anyone. They are basically no better than intimidating thugs.
