Need Owners Manual [ English ] for Pickup ; Ford, Ranger, 2.5 l Turbo Diesel [ NOT Cmn-Rail ], Model ; XLT, Yr ; 2000, Manuf. ; LOS

Hi Fellow Thaivisa Members,

I tried exhaustively over many weeks for an on-line version of Owner's Manual [ English language ] for Ford Pickup Truck, but to no avail.

Some links that were very promising eventually disappointed in only having manuals for Ford Rangers particular to North American market.

The North American Ford Rangers being completely different animals to the Ford Rangers that sold to everywhere else in the world.

.

The original supplied Owner's Manual I have ;

But, unfortunately for me, it is in Thai language only, & I cannot read or write Thai language.

.

Here's hoping that some reader here will send me a scanned copy.

.

I have no credit card ;

So, ordering a Haynes, or similar Non-O.E.M. manual, on amazon.com, or the like, is not possible.

Although, I aim to order such a manual face-to-face from a bookshop when I can afford it.

Make ; Ford,

Range ; Ranger

Model ; XLT,

Year ; 2000

Engine ; 2.5 litre Turbo Diesel [ NOT Common-Rail ]

Manufacture ; Thailand

Thanking all helpful replies in advance,

Much thanks Tracker.

I should have qualified matters by referring to scanned copies of this manual done prior to my request ;

Having already scanned the Thai version by way of good practise because "it my only manual" & "it is valuable as help to me by being in Thai such that I can show / give to Thai assistance", I know only too well the tediousness & time involved in scanning such a document.

Thus, pending reasonable wait for posters returning to offer manuals that they have already scanned, I think better that we not proceed with ur most kind offer yet Tracker.

But, if u are OK with it, I may return to u for to make arrangements to proceed.

.........................................................................................

This is my 1st ever 4-wheel motorised vehicle purchase.

And, I am still in process of improving it ;

But, everything on hold presently because of severe lack of funds for that mission.

Meanwhile, I have to seriously consider that there is a Cobra snake under the bonnet / hood.

I'm hoping to have old snake hands around for the grand re-viewing of the engine in the next few days.

Perhaps u have exactly a Ford Ranger XLT 2.5 litre Turbo Diesel Year 2000 Pickup ?

I meant to add that mine is a 4 x Door version.

Anyway, how has this Pickup been for u ?

 Hi JAS21,

I did do Google.com searches for Holden manuals because I think that my Ford Ranger Pickup was re-branded as a Holden for Australian market.

But, again to no avail.

It appears that there is no Fan-Boy Following or other Enthusiast Set-up for my Ford Ranger Pickup boasted of anywhere on the internet.

Perhaps u will recommend some Ford Australian Forums & / or Australian Holden Forums & / or Mazda* Forums for to solve my quest.

*

My understanding is that Ford Rangers up until the last few years are actually all Mazda vehicles that are then "re-badged" according to arrangement with Ford, & Holden,  for their respective slices of the turf.

And, I think that most recent Ford Rangers Pickups being sold in Thailand are really Mazda Pickups, but with Ford bodywork replacing Mazda's.

I bought my 2 door ranger in dec1999. It was the first model made here as far as i know.  Not much problems.  Had to change a short piece of flexible hydraulic hose TWICE from the clutch. Locally made.....

This year changed both front wheel steering bearrings (homokenetic or something?). Both of them had pieces broken of and when making a circel with the car gave loud noises.

Some regular things, so over almost 18yrs of use, not to bad.

@ tracker,

Ref. Ur 2 door Ranger, Year ; 1999, Locally made

1.

Had to change a short piece of flexible hydraulic hose TWICE from the clutch.

2.

This year changed both front wheel steering bearings (homokenetic or something?).

Both of them had pieces broken off, and when making a circle the car gave loud noises

Immediately after buying mine from 1-AND-only owner a few months ago, I immediately brought it to a series of Ford Dealerships for full service.

1st Dealership

They did not have all the parts deemed necessary following their inspection.

Off-hand I recall :

replacement Auto-Lub for Engine

new Oil Sump Drain Diaphragm

new Fuel Filter

Shock Absorbers -- Estimates : e.g. Front 2 = THB 1590, Rear 2 = THB 1880 -- was recommended ;

But, not yet ordered by me.

Anti-Lock Brake System [ ABS ] Light always on was diagnosed as fault of  1-AND-only ATBS Sensor [ under Rear Axle ].

I was quoted THB 10,000 for replacement of this.

But, not yet ordered by me.

Actually, I am hoping to solve this problem with getting it cleaned by ordinary garage.

But, I think that I need to ensure that I have same size tyres on all hubs for setting of ABS again.

Presently, I have spare tyre of 205/70 x 14 on 1 hub, & have pickup parked until I replace with new 185 x 14 to match with the other 3.

However, I think that the Thai language User Manual specifies sizes other than 185 x 14.

Yet, I think all 4 hubs equipped with 185 x 14 will be satisfactory for all concerns.

2nd Dealership

They replaced Engine Head "Gasket" + Bolts thereof.

3rd Dealership

They replaced Master Cylinder of Clutch with new one.

Re ; Common-Rail

To my disappointment -- & it following being informed of the wonders of Common-Rail Fuel Supply System -- I am told by mechanic that my Ford Ranger's Engine is NOT Common-Rail.

Re ; Turbo

I was told by a learned Falang that it is wise to carry Fire Extinguisher for to spray deep into the Turbo section of Engine in the case of Engine refusing to shut-down.

Re ; Radiator

I need new Radiator

As novice car / pickup driver, I experience problem when in process of changing "up to" Gear 2, & also "up to" Gear 3 ;

But, not "up to" Gear 4, & "up to" Gear 5.

vis.

Following I readying the engine with some extra fuel by use of Accelerator pedal, there occurs some seconds of no transfer from engine to drive ; Or, so it seems.

It feels like the engine is racing.

A touch worrying is that.

However, when I got young chap of ordinary garage to bring for test-run with me, he even with zero English language comprehension, impressed  upon me that this pickup has absolutely no problems like I outline.

My Thai wife, who happens to be a very skilled + confident driver of automatic cars in her time but now humbled with my acquisition of old modest but robust pickup, experiences the same problem.

She, thinks that it may be a lacking of the driver in being raw to manual transmission.

Now not at home so have to do from memory...

The flex. Hydraulic hose was only 110thb. It burst in 1.5year. Then again couple years later. After 2nd install of that hose I opted in a normal garage for a 2nd hand import piece of hydraulic hose (maybe ford, maybe a piece of motorcycle brake hose, anyway, tired of the local quality, i installed that one, and is now in use for about 8 years.

The homokinetic on front wheels were replaced by Aisin ones. I think they were 2500thb/pcs.

Then the ford dealer issue:

I am avoiding ford dealers for a while now. I have maintained the ranger for about 6 years with them. Several times got parts changed whereby I couldn't detect any wear (as they give you the old ones when done). Reason also was that too many working hours were written. Bytheway, now remembering that also my clutch house was exchanged. Cannot remember pricing though.

My repairs are done by garages which i trust. Meaning that i will first bring the car for a small thing like exchange oil and check how work is done, mechanic skills etc. They don't like you around, but that is not my problem...

At the moment the ranger (2nd car, have also landcruiser vx80) smokes a lot with cold start. Want to have check and maybe renew diesel injectors etc. But since recent move to new location haven't found good garage yet.

I had a look on the Ford Australia forum and none of the Rangers had a manual listed.

Your series pickup was designed by Mazda and sold as a Ford (never a Holden), while the current Ranger is a Ford design with an uglyfied version sold by Mazda.

Weeell, if it doesn't do it visibly when out and about it is probably valve guides or valve stem  seals...When you turn off oil finds it's way down the valve stems and when you start up it burns it... Just a guess though..:smile:

Thanks JaseTheBass,

I was waiting too long a time for my Ford Australia Forum membership to activate ;

So, I gave up for yesterday ;

But, of course, had it on my agenda for later today ;

"Had" up until ur report to me here that "it no have the manual I need" 8-)

By the way, what sold as a Holden in Oz during that time ?

Ford Ranger

I did search for a Mazda equivalent to my Ford before too ;

But, even more-so it proved to be too frustrating.

If there was an exact equivalent Mazda badged as a ... Mazda, I do not know what the Model is.

And, of course, the next step would be to find a Manual for that in English language.

This is a particular trail I blazed today :

APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE FOR LENGTH OF POST

But, I believe that it is most valuable ;

Because to find satisfactorily comprehensive, not to mind detailed, info. about the likes of Ford Ranger XLT Turbo Diesel Pickup Truck -- "outside of" N. America Series -- Year 2000 [ circa ] is thus far proving to be "pending" 8-)

And, then of course, there is the extra issue of locating Owner's Manual [ English language version already available for downloading ].

By the way, as said, I have the Thai language version if anyone wants it sent to them as attachment or however else is a good option for to send it.

It is as valuable as the English language version to have ;

Communication with Thai technicians etc.

International (1998–present)

For markets outside of North America, Ford badge engineered the Japanese-built Mazda B-Series as the Courier starting in 1971, renaming it the Ranger in 1998 (with the exception of Australasia where the Courier nameplate was retained until 2006; incidentally the Courier was also sold in North America prior to the 1983 model year). Second-generation Ranger models from 2006 to 2011 were also designed by Mazda, being rebadged versions of the successor to the B-Series, the first generation BT-50.

In the 1998 model year, Mazda renewed its B-Series for international markets. Production at the AutoAlliance Thailand plant began in May 1998.[30] It has the chassis code "UN".[16] This model was also sold as the Ford Ranger in Europe and Asia and as the Ford Courier in Australia and New Zealand. Production also began that year at the Ford Motor Company Philippines plant. CKD versions were also assembled in South Africa and Ecuador.[citation needed]

The truck was sold in more than 130 countries under a variety of names. It was called the Fighter and Ranger in Southeast Asia—except in Singapore where it was called the Proceed—the Mazda Bounty and Ford Courier in New Zealand, the Mazda Bravo in Australia, and the Mazda Drifter in South Africa.[citation needed] The B2600/B2200s sold in Venezuela and nearby Latin American countries were assembled in Colombia by Compañía Colombiana Automotriz S.A. (CCA). They had a 2.6-liter inline-four engine, four-wheel-drive model and an entry level model with a 2.2-liter inline-four with rear-wheel-drive.[citation needed] In 2002, a "Freestyle" model with rear suicide doors became available on this platform. The rest of the range was revised in 2002 and 2004. These models are unrelated to the Mazda B-series and Ford Ranger models in North America.[citation needed]

In 1998, a new generation of the Courier pickup was released following a redesign of the Mazda B-Series. Unlike the previous generation, the Courier nameplate was sold primarily in Australia and New Zealand. In other markets, the Courier nameplate was phased out in favor of Ranger for all compact trucks, both Mazda-produced and Ford-produced.

The Ford Courier pickup today

ford_ranger.jpg07FordCourierAus.jpg

The Ford Courier pickup, being a rebadged Mazda pickup, was still sold as a Ford Courier in Austrialia and New Zealand till 2007, when it was renamed the Ford Ranger. This Ford Ranger is not the same as the Ford Ranger sold in the US. Similarly, the Ford rangers sold in every other market outside of North America for the last 25 years are actually Mazda B-series pickups, not US ford rangers. And to further confuse matters, the B-series pickups now sold by Mazda in the US, are actually North American Ford Rangers, and bear little relation to Mazda pickups anywhere else. They do share some engines (the 4.0 liter V6 that is available in the Mazda trucks is the Ford engine), though the diesel engines from Mazda have never been available in the US rangers after 1984. One way to tell them apart is 6-lug vs 5 lug wheels – the Ford designed ones are all 5 lug, whereas the Mazda designed ones remain 6-lug to this day.
