Makita battery chargers

Featured Replies

My drill driver battery charger is on the blink.....well actually it needs to be to show its working .

I went direct to the Makita showroom who just giggled at the apparent antique I have.

I still have the old...er nick cad battery but in todays speak its lithium ion and of course i spent the next hour playing with all their tools and getting a few nice freebies...notebook and pen..lovrly drill key ring etc

So I then went to browse Global and they are still selling the old...er makita battery drill and laughed when i said they have very old stock.

Question...can I get a charger for a perfectly good drill when the staff at makita were a bit fluffy about it.

For 5k i can get an all singing and dancing hammer drill and for 4k a Stanley God almighty sexy beast in yellow and black

Is it the charger or the battery?  What are the symptoms. Does it not start charging or does it not finish?

Charge the Nickel Metal Hydride battery cartridge when you do not use it for more than six months

Amorn can put new cells in for you.

In theory any electronics place should be able to fix it, if it is the charger.  Don't forget to take Crossy's circuit diagram with you.

thanks for explaining that i need to carry the drawing with me.

defo the charger. when its plugged in it just flashes for a split second. last week it was ok, the light flashes continuosly until you drop the battery in it.

i didnt realise places like Amorn can breathe new life into them, thanks I will try that.

If you are a handy type guy and can get the battery pack open you maybe able to "zap" the cells to reduce the shorted crystals. I've used a 12v car battery.  It lasts for a while but not forever.  Many videos on YouTube.

See what Amorn says and then buy a new one?

All good advise above. I can not speak for Global House choices of power tools, but quite clearly they favor private label brands with higher profit margins. There are over 10,000 power tool factories in China. How many do you think have great engineers, high quality control and send quality tools?  Not many in my personal observation.  The vast majority are built to a cost, and not to Makita standards. Certainly many Makita authorized centers in Thailand would carry or easily order the latest models for a customer.  If a builders merchants store in Buriram can offer current model Makita Tools certainly other tool shops in Thailand can offer the OP the latest Makita 18V power tools. If you compare and compare a Stanley cordless tool to a current Makita Power Tool you will see a difference in performance.
