LAMPANG: -- Overnight downpour caused flash floods, affecting hundreds of homes in the Muang district of Lampang province, prompting the evacuation of the residents to safer grounds early Wednesday morning.

Residents in Tambon Ban Euam’s Ban Thung Kluay (Moo 5), Ban Mae Tong (Moo 6) and Ban Thung Kluay Tai (Moo 12) suddenly found themselves in waist-deep floodwater in their homes on Wednesday following the overflowing of the Mae Tam Creek. Soldiers and rescue workers helped the affected residents evacuate.

In Tambon Wang Nua of Wang Nua district, a flash flood due to heavy rains hit many villages. Officials were surveying the damage and providing aid.

As of press time, officials were monitoring the situation amid fears that continuous rains in this northern province could lead to more flooding.

If a creek over flows has nothing to do with drains, just to much water. I guess Houston could use a few more drains.
