Bangkok Governor Supports Congestion Charge to Curb Traffic
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
They actually have a decent integrated system, it's just obsolete, and been that way for at least 5 yrs. For that reason, we don't go near it during rush. Always make sure we stay within walking distance to food for early evening, late night time munch. Ok to knock around the city playing tourist 0900-1500 hrs, but during rush hour, or weekends when everyone is out & about ... Hell No Pool time or hang out with daughter, locally. -
Bangkok Governor Supports Congestion Charge to Curb Traffic

And yet ... One time leaving T21 to hop BTS to Nana station, we had a hard just getting to the other side of the road, via exit to platform to stairs. So we could walk it. You couldn't even past the turnstiles, as they were way backed up. Guessing some of those folks had to wait for about the 5th train to come by. What a cluster F -
British Man Drives 500 km to See 'Lamduan,' Sisaket’s Baby Hippo

I think I ran out of things to do & see here. Wait a year or so, then see what's new. I've driven silly distance to see or take a photo of something, just for the hell of it. ... golden triangle, where all countries are visible from on viewpoint, but always seemed to be smog season, so crap photo ... as far east, just to take photo of Cambo border imm ... same with as far N & W ... went to most southern part to take photo of that plaque, then thought screw it, after ~1000 kms, decided the last 11 kms wasn't worth it ... and the most narrowest part of TH, and seems to be a few of those -
I just strolled past 10 hrs of 'new content', and posted on 4, I think, simply because I'm bored, while making & finished my first cup of coffee. Took less than 1 hour, and that' while doing things. Take vitamins, dog had to go out, and all during my morning routine. It's a quick read, while talking to daughter on FB.

Room with View or Quiet Room: Your priority is?
KhunLA replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The fed prison in PA (Allenwood Low) didn't even have a cyclone fence around it. It's pretty much a joke. Although they did take the pool & courts out. No longer allowed to play golf at the local course. Club Feds just aren't what they use to be. Make a man walk a straight line in life. -

Oh please ... I've flown from Philly to Clearwater beach FL for grouper sandwich, spicy fries & Red Stripe beer. Use to drive from Philly to Rehoboth Beach, DE for breakfast. Or PKK to Mae Chaem, CM to look at a rice field. PKK to Kanchanaburi for a bowl of noodle soup with a view. PKK to Ayutthaya, for Beef Massaman. Drive an hour down to Ban Krut for Chicken Curry and Lemon Cake. Drove from PKK to Trat, just to take a photos of a road, then accidently deleted them Or Udon Thani to Nakhon Pathom take photo of 'Dragon Temple) -
Room with View or Quiet Room: Your priority is?
KhunLA replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
A view is a must, or I'd just live in my car, truck, or van, even a tent. Why I was never a criminal (white collar) as couldn't do the time, not even in a fed prison. OK, maybe a year or 2, depending on the pay off I'd have to take up tennis thought -

That might work, IF, the public trans lines weren't packed already. Apparently these people don't use public trans, or they'd realize there's no more room for more people. What they should have done was stopped building 20+ yrs ago. -

How much will baht rise tomorrow?
KhunLA replied to Celsius's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yea, if very slight fluctuation of the baht stress people out, strongly suggest they never invest in the markets It's bee ฿33 / $1 USD, +/- 10%, for most of the past 24 yrs that I've been here. Only times it moved more than 10 %, were in our / expats favor, ฿37-฿45 / $1 USD If mere 10% is going to affect your smile, living overseas may not be for some people. -

Bus from Udon Thani to Nong Bua Lamphu
KhunLA replied to AaronIsaan's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
There's probably more than a few everyday, if not hourly to NBLP. Simply call who ever when you board the bus. Gives them about 1 hr to meet you at bus station. Before leaving NBLP station, check schedule to KK. -

It's called marketing ... good luck finding one. LAZ advertises 'free shipping' also, out of 100-150 orders, might have got free shipping once ... ... marketing MG ZS EV gets 403 kms per charge ... marketing again. -
EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
That's a bit overstated. You can download as many apps as you like. We use 3 apps, MG, PEA & EV Station Pluz. Only use when O&A. Many don't require 'in app wallets'. Would imagine some people don't use any apps, if not going O&A in their BEV. Same applies at the mall. Have never charged at the mall. Did pop in once to use, good photo opt, but slow chargers, so didn't bother. At the mall, nobody is forced to use fast charging cables, as AC cables are available. Usually charge while taking a short stroll, a P, and having a munch, and fast charging cables always available, as no desire to use a slow one. Never a negative, so far, charging away from home. Once one was inop, so just popped down to the next one, about 12 kms away, I think. -

2 months ago, so let's deal in the present. Told wife, they have that price, 'till they run out of cars'. She didn't ask, and nobody stated, if they actually had cars available. Just stated the avert was real. Since they are still showing it, and no cars available, well .... nuff said. -
EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Wife got back with Roojai, and first gal she talked to, which I posted about, gave wrong info. Price is now ~14k, though insured value did drop to 590. She was pricing as 2023 ZS. Should also note, that the 9k previous year's price, was considerably lower than all the rest at the time, which was 20-22k for coverage. Maybe they simply realized they priced it too low. Good for us, that year anyway. So now more in line with the rest, actually still 25ish % cheaper, as others still wanting 20k+/- for coverage. Also closer to insurance prices for ICEV, if I remember, the ICE ZS was 12-13k for coverage (not Roojai), the last year we had it, and insured value less. So depending on insurance carrier, prices will vary greatly. Reality now, the 2 yr old BEV is about the same price for coverage/price, as the 2yr old ICE version was. Another myth (higher insurance) busted. -

You're not going to find one for 599k, as one poster tried locating. So new price is 829k, and 2 yr old insured value is 590k = ~28% depreciation over 2 yrs. Much better than our ICE version's depreciation, 695k & 400k = 42%. But it was a buyer's market, especially where we live, and we were motivated sellers. Probably could have easily got 450k for it or ~35% depreciation. I'm going by real life experiences, and numbers that are real, new price vs insured value. The 2nd hand advertised market means nothing to me. MG marketing to get you in the showroom means nothing. Obviously, this is a unique time to buy vehicles, with the BEV price wars, and may go on for quite sometimes, since basically a new, emerging well priced, 'mass produced now', technology. Depreciation is only relevant to those selling after a few years vs people (us) planning on keeping till it dies or repurposed into the solar system. Before coming to TH, I was a 'hold 'em' till they die vehicle owner. First 3 POS new cars I bought here .. well ... you get what you pay for. So very happy MG arrived as quite happy with both ZSs and price points compared other offerings. Still just a machine to get from point A to B. Though do enjoy the better performing and comfy ride over previous 3 POS, (Toyota & Mazda) we had before the ZSs. Especially when O&A, exploring locally or beyond. -
Added Creatine to my 'healthier' whole food intake, over the past 2 years, after moving away from the false MSM pushed BS. Just 5gr a day, in a kefir milk/berry smoothie. Not trying to build mass, or competing, just trying to maintain the mass I have, and enough of this muscle atrophy. Maybe I'll even start remembering what I walk into the room for

I left those out, but agree, very tiresome the repetitive bashing and negativity of all things basically. Quite the miserable lot, and as the saying goes, 'misery loves company' and apparently very true. Really hard to have an intelligent discussion. Really do have better things to do. PEACE OUT Smile people ... unplug, smell the coffee, start living ...

EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Coming up on 2 years (Oct 30), of owning the 2022 MG ZS EV, and still Lovin' It. Can't think of any negatives for us. Really like the ZS, ICE & E versions. We seem to average 20k +/- kms a year. 2 yrs / 40k kms with ICE version, and now 2 yrs / 35.5k with the E version. (19.5k the 1st year). Been hanging around the house more this past year. Half our kms are O&A, requiring CSs & hotel stays. Half our local driving is also away from the house, exploring locally (50-125 kms, one way), no CSs or hotels needed. ~95%, or more, of home charging is done with solar. We really have not need for the grid, though connected for ฿26 a month, JIC. MG dealer, service shop has been excellent, though very little needed, aside from check ups @ 10k kms. Local dealer is also their oops / body shop, and did an excellent job with our minor oops, and Roojai insurance was excellent, start to finish. No negatives worth mentioning. BEVs fits our lifestyle & transport needs perfectly, whether car, MB or ebike. Stated many times, for us, savings (long game) was motivation to buying, and afterwards, performance was way more impressive than expected, making it an even better choice for us. Makes driving fun again. If wanting either, highly recommend owning or at least test driving a BEV, before your next vehicle purchase. With that, think I'm done with this thread, unless asked a specific question. I think everything I could think of was covered in the thread. Thanks for contributing, asking questions, and helping with my choice before owning, and along the way. HAPPY MOTORING Solar & EV info is why I joined the forum, so thanks for all the info and assistance with those. Owning E-MB for 3 yrs, BEV for 2 years, w/Solar for 2 yrs, to compliment them. Threads on each if interested. PEACE OUT -
OP's point is well taken, as just opened 'new content', and 10 or 25 topics on first page are trump, harris related. Most trump bashing of course. Does make for a quick read, or a chuckle depending on the last comment. Unfortunately, I doubt if anything will change after Nov 5th. Oh well, such is forums

Do you enjoy being woke up before sunrise ? Aside from temple, always look for loud speakers on utility poles, in any area you plan on living. Never hurts to visit the area in the early morning hours, and kill some time with you morning coffee & reading, as assess the noise pollution. Add the weekend nights to that also, to see where all the youngins or old drunks are, and if plying music loud.

Common sense should kick in, and unless an emergency situation, I simply would never drive through deep water, and to me, as stated earlier, that's over the lowest rubber section of tire. Your Makro example is spot on, as happened to me while at Rangsit Future Park area. Was in one of the malls, and there was a downpour. I went out for a peek with the car, while wife & kid waited inside. Was amazed how deep it was in such a short time, and more amazed, people were driving their sedans through. More amazed, none stalled in the water. I simply went back in the mall, after a nice chuckle, and we waited about an hour or so, till rush hour and the water had subsided, to a drive through level. Actually must gone except lower curbside. This was with the ICE ZS, and if the BEV, probably would have waited a bit longer at the mall. Adds to one's choices in life, where to live & work, and how you are getting back & forth. It's TH, and flooding is a reality in many places. Also why we don't live there. OP, if hasn't already, needs to assess where he'll be driving to & parking during rainy season, before deciding on any vehicle, especially a BEV. If I lived & worked in some areas of TH, especially Krung Thep, then I'd want to be able to walk to work, or have public trans available, if & when needed. All my houses have been on high ground, and a learning lesson with first house, as town (Udon Thani) was inaccessible in 2000-2003 during heavy rains. So made sure frig/freezer was stocked up with week's worth of food. There were a couple times, when stuck in the village for a short week. The kid didn't mind a few days off school, nor myself, and not needing to do the 70 km daily commute.

I would class that as 'Marketing for the Brain Dead'. Why would anyone drive any vehicle in water above the floor level. Unless you have a snorkel exhaust system, not recommended in an ICEV. I think the MG's clearance is ~160mm ... nuff said I won't even drive a car through water enough to cover the wheel bearings. Learned that lesson as had to replace them on one of my POS cars here / TH, Vios or Mazda 2. Obviously not sealed. You get what you pay for
