I still marvel at his success with Agrifood. It is a Netflix drama in real life. Imagine being 25 years old and flying back for a father's funeral, being told that the family company was about to collapse , and putting your life on hold to turn the company around, and then quietly going back to school after saving the family business and restoring family honour. He is a living business case study. -

Firstly, you have to take into account that "Social Media" is deliberately posting provocative articles, often selectively paraphrased, to stoke enmity and division, and, importantly, generate traffic for a forum that was recently sold, and probably, like most other forums now, dying on its knees. "Social Media" I noticed doesn't take a side, just seems to revel is the resulting discourse. I am not sure why you are trying to make this a freedom of speech thing. I suspect <deleted> stirring. The UK has no general right to free speech, but under Common Law, freedom of expression is a negative right , which means the government is obliged to take no action against a person because of their views, but no one else is obliged to help facilitate publishing those viewpoints, nor listen to them nor agree with them. ie some nutter can't demand a tv or radio station propagate his views. They can cut him off, because they are not the government. Those rights are enhanced by the ECHR, which might be moot given that the UK is likely to withdraw from that within the next 10 years. In the case of Ashkan Kareem; you misread the article, maybe because because English is not your first language. He was not arrested for chanting racist and far-right slogans. He was part of a group confronting other rioters. His defence was that he was trying to defend a mosque. But where his defence fell down was because he admitted charging the crowd, and thus guilty of violent disorder. There are allegations he threw something at the crowd, though he claimed it was just a throwing action, which is bordering on the ridiculous. You can go to prison for upto 5 years. He plead guilty, so the Judge's job was to sentence. To his (slight) credit, he turned himself in. First the judge considers the level of culpability; A, B or C. C basically means threats of violence, and a lack of planning. Category B involves groups, and a degree of planning; he traveled to "defend the mosque", he wasn't someone passing by who on the spur of the moment, got involved. He was part of a group. Category A means you are Category B, plus you have come tooled up (ie you brought weapons). There is suspicion about whether he brought something to throw; can't be proven. So he was a Category B offender. Next is the level of harm he caused, 1, 2 or 3. 1 is the most serious, and is combinations of harm considered in category 2. Category 2 includes actual injury, destruction of private property, loss of earnings (eg the pub hat to shut, so the staff didn't get paid), cost to the public purse, attacks on police and other public servants. You get the picture. Category 3 is basically making a bunch of threats and shuting. A combination C3 is at the lowest end of the violent disorder spectrum, and for that the starting point is 26 weeks inside; mitigation can bring that down to a community order (cleaning dog <deleted> or something). A1 means probably 4 years inside, but mitigation might bring this down to 3 years. Kareem was probably B3; he could have got 2 years inside, so should consider himself lucky. He will likely be deported after serving his sentence. -

Several neighbouring countries compete with Thailand for foreign retirees
I visited some friends in Cambodia. They live in Siem Reap. Theres’ a good choice of very reasonably priced condos, my friends place was fantastic , rents are cheap, food is cheap, easy visas , I found it more social minded than Thailand, lots of get togethers, great restaurants very cosmopolitan, nice night life , of course please don’t think I’m comparing it to Pattaya !! People are very kind and the spoken English quite good. I’ve been to most areas of Cambodia, it’s small after all, I used to go often to Sihanouk Ville until the Chinese invasion. All my friends businesses, lives , gone for good. Tho it seems lots of the invaders have left. I would consider Siem Reap for a long stay, the only problem would be medical care/ good hospitals . I’m not looking for being an expat, I appreciate my home and advantages too much to leave it all . -

I’ve noticed that smoking seems pretty common in a lot of places. For example, when I was in Thailand, it felt like a lot of people were smoking, and the same goes for Western countries where it's still pretty prevalent. It’s often tied to social habits, stress, and sometimes even cultural norms. Plus, in some areas, smoking isn't as heavily regulated or discussed as it might be elsewhere. Personal experience and environment play a big role in why smoking habits can vary so much. -

Sriyakul believes that in order for Paetongtarn, aged 38 and daughter of prominent political figure Thaksin Shinawatra, to successfully govern, her cabinet should predominantly consist of young leaders. He proposes an "80-20" rule, where 80% of new ministers are from the younger generation and only 20% from the older cohort. Thailand's law permits the Prime Minister to appoint a maximum of 35 cabinet members at any one time. Given the current discord within the Palang Pracharath party, particularly between leader Prawit Wongsuwan and secretary-general Thammanat Prompao, there are calls for the latter to spearhead a possible split and take several MPs with him. The Pheu Thai-led coalition also faces potential reshuffles, with the possibility of the Democrat Party, traditionally an opposition party, joining the coalition. I am not a fan of armchair diagnostics. What uneducated people call dementia is often wrong. It was annoying when the Trump collective did this to Biden and it is annoying when the Trump opponents do it now. Trump has always been self important and given to exaggerated statements. In previous years, he had checks and balances that kept him from going overboard. Once he became President, the checks and balances were wiped away and he was surrounded by enablers and minions who encouraged the poor behavior. No one says no to him now. Ivanka used to, but Donald Jr. pushed her aside. The smart one has been replaced by the dumb one. Trump is obese and so his gait reflects that. The oversized clothes with 1980 styling now make him look like a waddling Humpty Dumpty. What worked when he was 58 won't work now that he is 78. He is wearing his pants up around his belly and that just gives off the seniors home resident vibe. -

In Australia 2021, PM Morrison took on additional portfolios including Finance, Health and Resources. This is done when the needs of the state as a whole require a combined and focused strategy, In Thailand Defence is a critical cabinet position and often implicated in the overthrow of an elected government. By retaining the Defence portfolio it is hoped that the military can be better overseen and perhaps thwarted or delayed when there are efforts to influence government policy. If the Thai military respected the concept of a separation of state and military and that the military was subject to civilian oversight there would be no need for the joint position. Some countries are able to do it: The militaries of Canada and the UK have King Charles (or his representative the Governor General in Canada ) as commander in chief. However, the military answers to the elected government. -
