U-Tapao Airport ready to host Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017

 

CHON BURI, 12 October 2017 (NNT) - Top officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Sports and Tourism held a meeting to discuss the progress of preparations for the Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017. 

Key participants of the meeting, held at the Royal Thai Navy's Sattahip base in Chon Buri province, included Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Thanasak Patimapakorn, Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports Pongpanu Svetarundra, and Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Governor Sakon Wannapong. The Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017 is expected to attract more than 150,000 visitors. 

Gen. Thanasak said the U-Tapao Internaltional Airport in Rayong province can accommodate a large number of racers and audience. It will demonstrate Thailand’s readiness to host world-class sporting events which will stimulate the economy and tourism. 

The Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017 is scheduled to take place at the U-Tapao International Airport from November 17th to 19th, 2017. The event will be broadcast live on television. For more information, please visit www.airrace1thailand.com.

No, this is Formula 1 air racing with a "grid" of aircraft (competing simultaneously) not the timed individual aerobatics/slalom that Red Bull sponsors.
