same as USA. Everything on the beach in California is banned.

parking in some areas is 600 baht.

you can eat and drink non alcoholic beverages.

beaches closed after dark.

no swimming without lifeguard.

in Southern California beaches are patrolled after dark by police with FLIR night vision mounted on top of their vehicles to locate and arrest anyone on the beach.

same in many other states. exceptions are a few camp sites on beaches.

consuming alcohol anywhere in a public place in illegal.

The rules are written around the lowest common denominator, and that's LOW!

Rules are for the protection of the masses...against the LCD!

Many expats think that because they're gracing Thailand with their presence, spending their meagre pensions here, that their home rules shouldn't apply, or they should be exempted.

Sounds just like Australia. Other than looking at the water, you're fined. Last time I looked no music, either. Crazy.

At least they got the English right, matches the Thai on the sign. But no times, fines, etc. Another "balloon" to test public opinion? Common practice here, since the govt know Thais - they'll never accept a stupid law that bans fun.

I share a beer with the local cops at my cafe by Khlong Saen Saep - at 3.00 PM most days. Illegal! They tell me, This stupid law is about 50 yrs old, so we don't bother with it. Another reason I like the Thais. Pleasure before rules. I reckon this sign will disappear.

Remind me. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave? Sounding more like Orwell's Oceania, which includes the US & Australia, another fascist continent that bans everything.

I'm sure the tourists will be flocking to Thailand in waves. Not. I can't remember ever going on a holiday anywhere and not having a few beers at the beach. I hope this dunce gets sacked fairly speedily for this nonsense.

Note: No times, no fines, no signature of the official on the sign. This is a test, no doubt pushed by nearby restaurants to get people back in, paying far more for a drink. Same game in BKK, banning street food near fancy restaurants.

Thais, of course, ignore it or เลื้อย  ( slither like a snake) around the obstacle.  Municipal cops (tesakit) tried to move a fruit vendor last week on Sukhumvit. She said, Not harming anything. They said, Against the law. She pulled out her machete. Cops left. Brava!

It is the same thing that has been going on all over the world. They want more control over every aspect of our lives. When they take away or control our little freedoms then we get desensitized to it and the loss of the big freedoms will slip right into gear.

Cool.

Now when they arrest somebody for having a beer or a smoke they can check down his swim suit and nail him for no underwear and maybe even failing to have his passport.

Ka-ching!

The beaches are not spectacular at least in southern Vietnam
But in Vietnamese tradition women are paying sin sod
2 pigs and 1 cow for a local guy...

Ban sand because it causes a mess on the roads to/from the beach.

See? Thai logic is easy :)

And what about no littering, no faecies in the water? Thai beaches are not a bit cleaner because it is not allowed to smoke on the beach. Most Thai beaches would be closed immediately with European measures. Dirty beaches, polluted water.

Eating is allowed.

Drinking is allowed, alcohol isn't.

Just cut up a watermelon, pour a bottle of gin or vodka over it freeze it then drop the cubes into your tonic.

As for beer sit over the road and drink it, you will be closer to the toilets as well.

If you are serious, I don't understand why you post on a Thai related forum, as there is no way you could ever visit or stay in LOS.
