Still wearing black in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have to go into Bangkok/Thonburi tomorrow, not in tourist areas, and wonder if most people are still wearing black?

Most  are not where I live but that is not a good gauge for Bangkok.

Thanks!

Today was supposed to be "muted colours" and back to full on normal tomorrow, I would just avoid anything too loud and you'll be fine.

I live in Thonburi BTW , you are going to see it for awhile simply because most people (including myself) have invested a lot in an entire black wardrobe.

Having said that, starting yesterday I saw a mix of color, but I suspect on Friday (Loy Krathong) everyone will be festive and colors will be back in full.

But to answer your question, anything will be fine just avoid garish neon displays (as you should on any day anyway !)

This from the Nation news this morning.

The general public were urged to wear black clothes or appropriate clothing with a black bow until the end of yesterday. They were also told to end the mourning period and wear normal clothing starting today.

It's over Sheryl. Enjoy wearing colors. I live in BKK Why Not do Orange for Halloween!!!  Many Thais have fun clothes on tonight.

Hi Sheryl

some of the older people still wearing black but we are wearing other colours now.

Bangkok appears back to normal today.

Avoid anything too loud? I was pumping the music in my gym while working out. But I was still wearing black though.

Yes, this is the main reason now.
