TNN also reported on the statistics of foreigners being arrested in Thailand for sexually abusing children under the age of 15. Between 2010 and 2017, there were 113 cases in Chonburi, 25 in Chiang Mai and 12 in Bangkok. 

 

Out of all suspects arrested, 45 percent were from the UK, 24 percent from the USA, 12 percent from Germany, 18 percent from France and 8 percent Switzerland.  

 This portion was posted on the ThiaVisa news  but not on the article shown to start the topic.   I wonder why?

 

Could it be to pacify the English, who caught engaging in pedophilic encounters at nearly double the rate of Americans or three and a half times the rate of Germans? ( taking into account arrival numbers from each country.)

 

Or could it be a large number of posters are from Pattaya wich has ten times the arrests and yet a much much smaller population than bkk?

 Yes, there was also an Italian man arrested for that offence in 2012 and he doesnt show up on the list and an Aussie guy in 2015 .gotta come to the conclusion that its just a made up list

It is undeniable that racial profiling would be the 'silver bullet' for so many of the current security and criminal problems world wide. Unfortunately, history has shown that mankind's ability to abuse this valuable tool knows no bounds. Even the 20-or-so questions about every boarded passenger that the US TSA mandates foreign airlines to provide them in advance of the plane arriving on US soil handily skips around the two most obvious questions of ethnicity and religion. If the US Supreme Court upholds the privacy of all free individuals regardless of their nationality, then there's not a lot of hope for any POTUS to abuse them no matter how much he rants and raves.

 

But when it comes to Thailand, there's nothing to stop them labeling and pigeonholing foreigners based on their own xenophobic, racist and nationalistic tendencies. It goes without saying that foreigners who 'live' in Thailand can engage in exactly the same odious behavior.
