What is the best way to watch movies at home?

Usually get DVDs from MBK but must be a better way.

Looking for the simplest way.

Heard there is some kind of Box that you can get that has all TV shows and Movies on it.  Or buy a streaming stick?

Is pantip plaza best place to go for advice?

Appreciate if you can suggest exactly what hardware / software required

Thanks in advance

A smart TV or an android box and you can access apps and content, most people run Kodi on a smart TV, PC or android box to access legal and illegal content.

Your local Tukom or IT mall will have a guy that sets-up and sells android boxes.

Google chrome is a browser, go on the internet and find movies, chromecast does the connection between your pc and the TV.

Any device with internet access is capable of getting content (free or paid for), a phone, tablet, PC, android box, smart TV (basically a built in android box).

A PC or an Android box gives you lots of choices for content, torrent downloads, apps/programs that connect to content.

People either download movies or run an app/program to get content, then get the content on to their TV, chromecast, hdmi cable etc.

As mentioned, Kodi is a program that will run on PC, android box or smart TV and has access to lots of TV show, movie content, and will play downloaded movies.

thanks;  This is a lot of information

I am thinking that ANDROID BOX where a guy comes and sets up everything now looks like the simplest solution.  So is the Android Box a PC?

Google Chromecast. 1,720 Baht.

Can get Netflix and YouTube in HD.

Plus anything else you can get on your phone, tablet or computer.

Think you need to do a lot of research first LGMV, for a start Tukcom is in Pattaya not Bangkok, try Pantip Plaza for somewhere nearer home

We could mention Torrents too, but we are not able to discuss those on TV (Thaivisa)

Whats your internet speed? do you have a PC?

Tukon IT malls are all over the place, not only pattaya. I have been to at least 4, siracha, bangsaen, Kohn kaen.

thanks bartender.  use a Mac which confuses things I am sure.  Happy to buy a cheap PC that can sit next to the Android TV box if one is. needed.

internet speed fast

Hardware needed:  Android TV BOX, Cheap PC (Dedicated to watching TV)

Software needed:  None, it's all in the box

Set up:  Shop will do this for a fee

Is that correct?

You will need a fast internet connection if using Kodi.

A normal HD movie will stream at 5-10 mbps. Kodi doesnt require a higher bandwidth than any other method of streaming, netflix, youtube etc.

There is a Mac version of Kodi, as bartender says Pantip Plaza, there are shops there that only sell kodi boxes.  They will set-up the box, show you how to work etc, not sure about coming to your house though as its only plugging the box into a HDMI port on the TV and connect to wifi etc.

No need for any box,you can stream from your PC if it has a HDMI port and tv also has,

or just watch on your monitor, have sent PM to you with sites that work.

Question:  streaming direct from PC etc seems simple, why do people bother with TV boxes?

The box for Android tv is MXQ black box.

It is better I think because everything is pre loaded.  Not just Kodi but Mobdro, etc.  Watch any movie or tv show ever made even Gilligan's island or Dobie Gillis...

I download from www.piratebay.org. it is almost a library of congress of movies and TV.  You can put about 10 movies on a 170 THB 16 GB USB Drive..or just connect your computer to TV with HDMI.  Netflix stinks.

thanks to all who inputted on this.  The situation is obviously not cut and dry but the responses have been excellent information for research

The movie box have a remote control similar to a DVD player, so you can easily pause, forward, adjust volume and don't have to fight a mouse and keyboard from your sofa.

I bought a smart TV, and I have an internet connection. I can watch movies on my USA Netflix account, order movies on Amazon prime (just ordered Game of Thrones Season 7), or watch HD news channels (Al Jazeera, BBC, FOX, CNN) on you tube. We are in the sticks of Buriram, but the service (3BB) is reliable and streams with zero issues.

You can use regular remote if you download to a thumb drive and play from it.
