Three horses inexplicably sprint through Chiang Mai traffic

In a viral video, three pretty horses inexplicably ran through Chiang Mai traffic on Monday, leaving perplexed motorists scratching their heads during morning rush hour.

No, nobody knows where they’re from. Nobody knows how they got there. The video was captured by Facebook user Overlap Garage and shows the moment when three horses sprinted down Chiang Mai-Doi Saket road.

Pol. Maj. Rattanadech Pirunsan, an inspector with the Phuthorn Sansai Police, said he received multiple calls from citizens reporting the running horses in the middle of Monday traffic, so he sent officers to track down the animals.

Most of the horses in CM are owned by the Thai army.

They are going at a fair speed and don't seem frightened.

Whatever turns you on I suppose.

Look at the prats overtaking them in the outside lane coming within inches of them. Stupid.

Oh dear,  they went through a red light. That will cost them.

Horses don't sprint, they gallop. Never mind, Thailand most definitely isn't an equestrian nation.

The is a horse riding school very close to their location, maybe from there.

They will be from Mae Jo,thats where all the cowboys are.

Well, Thais never learnt that you slow to a crawl so as not to spook them. I suppose they've all been brought up in the city.

This is true but the majority of Thais would be familiar with spooking buffalo and cattle.

My personal view is their reaction was a mixture of panic, stupidity, lack of training (as you mentioned) and selfishness combined with an unwillingness to slow down unless all other options (however bad) were exhausted.

If it were four horses, it would be the Apocalypse and I'd be seriously worried.

Two of the nags are dragging a long lead.   The 15 year old Burmese groom or new Army recruit what can't tie reefer knot is  gonna have some  splainin' to do I'd reckon!
