A gang of four foreigners preying on foreign tourists staying in top end hotels have been arrested by Bangkok police.

The modus operandi of the gang was to rent rooms in five star hotels then break into neighboring rooms and steal from safes.

Arrested were two Filipino women Miss Greggyia Dion Fabro, 32, and Miss Herrera Joann Gae Dion, 31. They were taken into custody while visiting Suan Phlu Immigration offices on the 28th of November.

This led to the arrests of two Iranian men Mohsen Razlighi, 40 at a house in Si Khiw, Nakorn Ratchasima and David Rasasi otherwise known as Jomedordi Bahlakeh, 49, outside a hotel in Siriwong.

Taken into evidence were clothes used in commission of many crimes tools uses to break open rooms and safes and goods stolen. There were also two vehicles.

Bangkok police said at metropolitan HQ yesterday that all had admitted their involvement.

The two Filipino women were approached by the Iranians in the Nana area to act as the people who would rent rooms in fancy hotels where nightly charges were 3,000 to 4,000 baht.

Once they were there the Iranians would move in and wait for rooms nearby to be empty then break in and remove safes that were taken back to their own room to be prised open and removed of their contents.

They are believed to have hit at least five hotels in Thong Lor, Hua Mak, Phaya Thai, Pattaya and Don Hua Lor, Chonburi.

But there could be more and met chief Charnthep Sisawech announcing the arrests asked for other potential victims to come forward.

The Filipinos said they were paid 1,000 baht a time to rent rooms. Mohsen who has lived in Thailand for many years and has a Thai wife said he was a look out while the other Iranian known as David was the main man.

Police have discovered that he was jailed for seven years in 2004 for a similiar string of offences. After release he was deported but then came back to Thailand under a different name.

Two Iranians, two Filipinas arrested for luxury hotel thefts

By The Nation

Two Iranian brothers and two Filipinas have been arrested for allegedly checking into a luxurious Bangkok hotel to break into other guests' rooms and steal valuables from safety deposit boxes on November 17, acting city police chief Lt-General Charnthep Sesawet told a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

The two women, Greggyia Dion Fabro, 32, and Herrera Joann Gae Dion, 31, who reportedly checked into the hotel room in the Ramkhamhaeng area, were arrested on November 28 at the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok's Soi Suan Plu area, Metropolitan Police Area 4 commander Pol Colonel Manop Nuamliwong said.

The two women confessed they had been hired for Bt1,000 each by the two Iranian suspects, he said.

Their information led to the subsequent arrests of Iranian national Mohsen Rajaei Razlighi, 40, last Saturday in Nakhon Ratchasima and his brother David Rasasi, who is also known as Jomedordi Bahlakeh, 49, in front of Le Meridian Hotel in the Silom area.

Razlighi was reportedly found with incriminating evidence, while Rasasi was in possession of a motorcycle allegedly used in the crime and stolen items.

Razlighi reportedly confessed that he had acted as a lookout during the commission of the crime and told police that he had stayed in Thailand illegally for years and had a Thai wife in Nakhon Ratchasima, Manop said.

Rasasi, who admitted to have been arrested in 2004 for similar thefts in Bangkok's Phayathai and Lumpini areas and served seven years in jail before being deported, reportedly returned to Thailand this year and committed five similar crimes in the Thong Lor, Hua Mark and Phayathai areas of Bangkok as well as in Chon Buri's Pattaya City and Don Hua Ror area, Manop said.

Charnthep said most of the victims of the crimes were foreigners who had not reported the thefts, leading to the perpetrators becoming overconfident and committing the same types of crimes several times.

A room is robbed. Who had adjacent or nearby rooms. Standard procedure. A room is robbed. Who had adjacent or nearby rooms. Hummmm. It sure would not take long unless they had fake IDs.

Also, it sure looks like the women turned on the guys in order to get a lighter sentence.

Stupid to commit crimes with another person(s)...especially women. The women will get off easy because they turned in the guys while the men will have a very miserable life in front of them.

Iranians......Simple....Chop their hands off.......:post-4641-1156693976:

I believe that their laws and punishments only apply to crimes committed among themselves.

When Infidels are the victims, anything goes.

Although I am impressed by the amount of police that can remain static whilst fitting in the photo frame, what is less impressive here are the picture boards. They just look like someone has stuck photos on boards. These guys should be immediately be sent to inactive posts to brush up on their powerpoint skills. Inexcusable!

A press conference in any country around the world is not done this way. What are those blokes behind doing? Just to have their silly faces taken so others would know they are involved and to gain credit? They just look so stupid to me!

A gang of four foreigners

A bit insulting classing all foreigners the same...

Suppose the important thing to the writer of the story was the offenders were not Thai.

Don't you just hate being a 'foreigner' here like the rest of the world and his wife.

Some people are more foreign than others ... it's a life style choice.

Just like all Africans are classed as drug dealers. Accept it.

Good to see these tourists using the safe in the room as recommended.

Disappointing to see the safes installed in these 'top end' hotels can be readily opened by a couple of Filipino women on 1000bt/day.

Offenders are usually unnecessarily paraded before the cameras for most other crimes but for this crime where mug shots might be a great help in preventing them  getting away with it again in the future, they are not shown....... Typically Thai!

The philipino names sound like BS. Anyone else think the same ? Don’t think you will find philipino’s in Nana. Just my 2 cents worth .

Well I, for one, am very happy that these thieves are off the street ! What more awful than coming back after a nice day to find your belongings, money , passport etc gone from the nice hotel you’d booked into ? I would expect though that the more expensive hotels have better safes and good security staff.

Whenever I stay at high-end hotels in Bangkok in the price range of 3,000-4,000 baht a night, all the lifts and corridors have security cameras that actually WORK!

My answer to your last sentence    I really do hope so.

Fingerprinting and facial photograph of all visitors should be all required to end all of this “change name” and re-enter rubbish. Also better coordination with major countries, US, UK, etc.

Most of the scum causing problems here already have convictions for anti-social behaviors, crimes, and hooliganism and should be banned from Thailand.
