Sorry, but you guys need to think beyond your own personal benefit. Allowing foreigners to own land wouldn't just mean farangs flocking to Thailand. It would mean Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Singaporeans, and a host of other regional wealth, carving up Thailand like a Thanksgiving Day turkey. The average Thai wouldn't be able to own land in their own country. Real estate would artificially inflate, inequality would widened, the rich get richer, political unrest, etc. Every foreigner who comes to Thailand should already know/understand this aspect of Thai law. Yet, you chose to come anyway....and then whine/whinge about it. Fact is, foreigners can already own land...through their Thai spouse. But you don't trust your spouse...? Looking forward to when that one kicks in. Owning land in Thailand would be nice but I agree with Berk the proverbial shat storm of everyone buying up Thailand would be horrible.
