Solar Hot Water Systems

Featured Replies

Hi, I would love to hear from anyone with experience to share about solar hot water systems in Thailand.

Any product to recommend? Plus your experience installing, running  and maintaining them.

thanks

I am also in the market for one.

I've used the search functions and most of the talk was based around Chang Mai.

My local Global House and other similar shops don't have in stock west of Khon Kaen.

A local solar business can make but would prefer a tank mounted to panel set up.

Might be worth your time to wait until early May. You can go in person to see several current models offered by reputable installers at the Architect Expo in Bangkok. You can get prices straight from the importer or distributors. I personally know of an expat who spent serious baht on a solar hot water system and then elected to install an electric 40 gallon tank system as the solar heater could not give him the temperature he wanted. They may have improved the solar offers in recent years in Thailand.

FJ,

A man of your calibre should be able to knock something up with an insulated tank to keep water hot at night and some black plastic hose mounted on a roof.

The series bht part is the issue

power is so cheap here compared to import taxed solar systems that they would probably never pay off like the west
