Young women in Chiang Mai cry foul over underwear theft

Several young women in a village in Chiang Mai’s Hang Dong district have complained that thieves had stolen their underwear.

The young women from Ban Pong Nua village in Tambon Ban Pong complained to reporters and village leaders that underwear described as “sexy” had been stolen on several occasions this month.

Pornchai Boonma, assistant village head of the village, on Thursday visited the young women who said the thefts had occurred at three houses.

One of the houses is being rented by three university students from a northeastern province during their internships with a luxury resort in the district.

The students said several lace bras and underpants had been stolen shortly after they had hung them outside to dry.

They said they had talked to people in the neighbourhood and learned that a thief or thieves stole only the underwear of “good-looking” young women and favoured new, sexy garments, particularly those made with lace.

Suspected knickers thief arrested in Chiang Mai

By The Nation

A second-year student attending a Chiang Mai university was arrested late Thursday night for allegedly stealing multiple women’s underpants and bras from several boarding houses in downtown Chiang Mai.

Police said Polawat Pothanak, 21, was arrested at his house in Chiang Mai’s Mae On district.

Police retrieved many pairs of panties and bras found in a black bag.

The arrest was made after Thawalrat Panthaka, 35, the manager of a boarding house near Chiang Mai University, filed a complaint with the Mueang police station that a motorcyclist was seen stealing five bras and three panties belonging to tenants in two rooms on February 4.

Police checked security camera footage around the boarding house, saw the suspect’s face and motorcycle licence plate, and tracked him down for the arrest.

He is studying at a popular university in Chiang Mai.

I remember the lady next door to me knocking and saying, someodyas been stealing her underwater of her line, and it happens again she's informing the police!. I nearly schit her pants...

Gee a string of offences for this now faceless student.

Why don`t these women do it the Thai way. That is put a price tag on their underwear. Definitely a business opportunity here.

Reminds me of reading about that Indian lady who was born with five legs, said her knickers fitted her like a glove..

Perhaps stolen for resale in the japanese market, where sales of used girl panties are highly popular !!!:cheesy:...Strange world, one could agree....

Something definitely smells fishy about this case

If they were used or dirty undies I was suggest checking the local Japanese population.   This was a big problem when I lived in Japan along with missing girl’s bicycle seats.
