Here, read this and come back to me with questions, that way you'll know what you're talking about:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_Thailand

For info, for everyone else, tourist numbers have increased year on year but most importantly the average spend per tourist has also increased year on year. And as much as people might not want to believe it, Chinese tourists account for over 25% of all visitors to Thailand AND their daily average spend is also well over the average.

55555555 Yes I couldn't make head or tails out of what Nasrulla was writing either but I have not the time to try and explain what some of these threads are about to some of these jokers,I just shrug and go on to the next---------- good on ya for trying.I must admit it does sometimes give me a bit of a chuckle and that's always good to start the day with:partytime2:

Whatever, I don't think the recipient of the bullet thought it was too short.

It is time for a nation wide crack down on illegal gun possession!

Make something highly illegal, watch how widespread it becomes, it's always the case.
Look at gun control in Venezuela, and look how many shootings go on there.
Look at how much gun control there is in Switzerland and Canada, and how many shootings occur there

Most Chinese spend sod all,  all the tourist money is handed over prior to their departure, they spend near nothing after arrival especially with local vendors, bars, taxis, trains, etc.   For your information even true in Thai money, it goes entirely to tour groups, Chinese organised eating set-ups.     And bus companies set up for their purpose.

Rubbish, zero-dollar tours have been cut back substantially. And based on the spending we see at my wife's business Chinese tourists are capable of spending very well thank you.

Several off-topic troll posts, argumentative posts, and replies have been removed from this thread.

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Won't have any affect on tourism numbers whatsoever. Biggest travel/tour operators in Australia have fantastic  package deals on holidays in Phuket and Samui. You virtually get the  10 -14 nights accommodation  free the airfares  abf  and transfers are so cheap'. Many direct daily flights to Phuket.

Phuket is now the same as Bali,Denpassar.  A cheap 3 rd world tourist destination cheaper than holidaying  at home.

Soon the annual intake from OZ will be 1 million people.

All of these negative reports on Thailand are splashed across TV screens  down under.

No -one cares anymore to the great relief of the TAT.

Protecting your wifes interest ??     GO ASK,  in Pattaya---anyone who lives there, and works there, ask the bars,   near all the Thais tell you my story, get out more from you wifes business  look around.    By the way It is good that your lady has good business, but tell me what business then we will understand.

It's already well on it's way! The minorities should understand that once the host dies, the parasites are soon to follow!

Go read the thread, I wrote that my wife works for a tourist-related business, it's not her business.

Pattaya and Chiang Mai are totally different places, they're hundreds of miles apart and both attract totally different types of tourist. All of which was the point in my earlier post when I wrote that people who sit in Pattaya bars all day and spend their times chasing bar girls wouldn't have a clue about the state of tourism in Thailand.

Samui has long attracted a rather lowlife element. This is true both in the makeup of the average tourist, a portion of the ex-pats who live there, and with the locals. There are alot of small time gangsters on the island. Usually the top few families do a pretty good job of keeping them in line. But, one can only do so much.

The fact is, the island continues to develop, and the population continues to increase. Nothing is being done to mitigate any of that. So, it is natural that we will see an increase in crime, traffic, traffic fatalities, and other problems that plague a tourist area that is not being blessed with creativity and vision on the part of the authorities.

And here we are with Prayut worried about Thailand being a sex tourist destination rather than a dangerous destination. There are guns absolutely everywhere in this country with hot headed men with the brains of children holding them.

for Brains of Children read Chickens

Who wants to come here for a holiday with all these "hotheaded Thai Operators/Vendors around?? ToT are trying to promote this country as a "tourist venue for families" .............. so dangerous here not just for competative businesses, but also for tourists refusing to by "vendor wares" .................... it's a nightmare. Holidays are for relaxation ..... difficult when this happens. Sad, sad, sad ..... it should happen here in such a blessed country that has everything.

Well, looks like Simoh1490 is about the one with multiple functioning neurones and any appreciation of a real Thailand, other than the tourist vacation spots.... As my thai family all say... Are for farang, is not Thailand...

With all the jet ski scams there is fewer and fewer clients available for the rip offs so no wonder the thevtempers are heating up!

No doubt both of these guys ripped off unaware tourists before!

Aside from this happening in front of a group of tourists, is there anything unusual about this?  Thai’s have been settling disputes this way for a very long time.  In fact this was much more frequent when I first arrived 28 years ago.  Don’t see the need to get on your high horse and proclaim Thailand has gone to hell in a hand-basket.

That's  right, I would  suggest a nationwide crackdown on Jet  Ski operators but I know that all that has been "successfully" done before.

Well done powers that don't be:wink:

He  could rent the jet ski boys to shoot em all???

Oh well the Police enforcers ( joke ) have a good day, loss of monmey from one family will mean larger brown envelopes from the other to impede or delay forever the investigation.

You gotta be "in the know" to have a successful "Chinese connection" or have a healthy tourism income ..... It's a closed shop & woe betide anyone encroaching on it! This is Thailand ...... ALL sucessful businesses are definitely paying someone. It's the name of the game here, everyone in authority has some scam/ruse going on ........ fact of life here.
