Boating In Kao Tao Reservoir Hua Hin

Featured Replies

I have never seen any boating, canoeing, sailing, kayaking activity in the perfect location that is Kao Tao Resovoir.

Does anyone know if any of the above are allowed?

Anyone know where I can find out?

Anyone any knowledge of this?

thanks

They have or have had big dragon boat festivals/ races there in November. I was there in January and don't recall seeing anyone on the water.

Ask at the Tessaban office in Hua Hin, located on Petchkasem Road at the Junction of Soi 61

I was there on Tuesday and there is a paddle boat station with about half a dozen small boats not far from the turning to the cave temple. It was very quiet and none were out, not even anyone fishing off the perimeter far less on the water.

Last time I went was a Sunday and it was very busy, lot of people fishing off the side and I am sure there were boats out.

Unsure which department is responsible for that reservoir. If you've seen the location there will be a sign (somewhere) that gives an indication. There's three incumbents; the Irrigation Department, the Tessabahn or the  Tap Water Company. You should contact them directly.

A short distance from my property is a reservoir that I sometimes use for sailboarding, a stretch of water managed by both the; Irrigation Department and the Tap Water Company. My permission came from the local Tessabahn. So, you may ask about the connection(s). To which, I don't really know. It's Thailand, after all.

However, if I was sailing a dinghy, I wouldn't have got permission here.

Good Luck

Jerry
