A new international tennis academy has been launched at True Arena in Hua Hin.

The True Arena-Paradorn International Tennis Academy is a collaboration between True Arena, Thailand's premier sports facility, and Thai tennis star, Paradorn Srichaphan.

Formerly ranked 9th in the world and having famously beaten Andre Agassi at Wimbledon in 2002, Paradorn was the first Asian player to make it into the top 10 of the ATP rankings.

The launch of the academy was overseen by Thailand’s former deputy prime minister and current vice-president of the Asian Tennis Federation, Khun Suwat Liptapanlop.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of the True Arena - Paradorn International Tennis Academy, said Khun Suwat.

“The Academy will play an important role in coaching and promoting the best young tennis players not only from Thailand but also from Australia, Europe and America.

“The intensive course overseen by Paradorn, combined with the excellent facilities we have at True Arena, where the tennis courts are of the same quality of those used in the Australian Open, will play an important factor in helping today’s young tennis players have a future career in the professional game”.

Since he retired from playing in 2010, Paradorn has been involved in a number of different ventures outside of the sport, but said he always knew that his future would be in tennis.

“The True Arena- Paradorn International Tennis Academy will enable young tennis players in Thailand to train at a world class academy without having to travel to Europe or the United States,” Paradorn said.

“Our goal is to coach young players who can go on and play professionally and prepare them for a career at ITF level.

“I want to coach and pass on my knowledge of being a successful tennis player to the young players, he added.

Paradorn explained that ten junior players are already signed up to the academy and will be moving to Hua Hin before the end of the month

The True Arena-Paradorn International Tennis Academy officially opens on 2nd April.
