  • There is a warning from Bangkok Post that there will be strong winds and rain later this week.    However, today and next two days are extremely hot. Temperature will go up to 39 C.

  • I don't know about you guys but it's raining now at my place for the past 10 minutes or so.

It was short , now it has stopped.

Can hear distant thunder at ThaPae gate, which is a nice change from the howling of the pst few days

I was told it rained in Mae Jo but nothing here in town centre.

It's raining heavily in sansai now. much, much more heavier than this afternoon.

Bangkok Post reported that a man died of lightning under a big tree yesterday while splashing water. It is dangerous to be under a tree during a storm.

Blessings be !  Pouring down in Nong Hoi now.

A short rain in the Nimmanhamin area, but enough to get the ground wet.  We haven't seen that for a while.  The entire area (northern Thailand and surrounding countries) needs much more.

An ocean of rain fell in Hang Dong 4pm ish along with ferocious gusts and howling winds that wreaked havoc.

Power seems to be out in many places. really strong winds !

Reminiscent of the squalls we used to get here quite a few years ago,as mentioned, ferocious and a little scary. Only had partial power for the last few hours.

At least it has cooled own.

What happened to the "Rain" thread?

Multiple threads for every other subject under Sun in the forum why not rain also.

I know rainy season is starting- the internet went down for an hour last night for the first time in months.;)

Thanks for the rain, now after yesterdays heavy shower and strong blow, I can see the hills of Doi Saket from my condo on Doi Suthep.

Seriously scary winds and heavy rain in Mae Rim two nights ago, last night just rain - the forecast is for more of the same so that probably means dry and hot sun!

Same here but with a smattering of hail... Power out for a couple hours and then brownouts the rest of the night...

Got a better look this morning, it was actually 6 big power poles over on the Cholprathan Rd , near the place that makes the bamboo construction (CDC?). Jolly lucky there are no houses at that point !!!

Also if you own a house in that moobahn next to  Lanna Pinery (the one with the Thai style roofs) you might want to go and check if your roof leaks - lots of tiles missing!

Pretty fierce in some parts, friend has a window blow in ,roof collapsed on top of computer desk etc luckily he was out having a meal.Power totally out for 3 hours at our place BWT, Mae Hia/Hang Dong and then for the next few hrs only partial power until midnight,3 BB out for 8 hours, quite a night.

Pays to not leave things lying around gardens, take precautions you could be next

Driving into CM today, one entire wood house is collapsed just off the Mae Rim/CM road in MR.

Another 5 hours yesterday, fallen tree bringing down power lines again.

They seem to be very localised storms, nothing to speak of in Mae Rim.

Power down sometime in the night at Sanphakwan...worst grid I have ever lived in in Thailand - first sign of a storm, power craps itself and is down for many hours.

We have over 30 very tall trees in our garden, watching them sway and bend to the degree that they did was indeed very scary.

So do plan your outings.

Unfortunately those heavy rains are gone in around 10 minutes. Some lighter rain before and after.
