Suzuki Carry 4x4, anybody seen one here?

Featured Replies

I came across some of these mini 4x4's on the web and thought it would be a great little unit to have for our setup. Most of our property is over a hill with a super narrow windy road which is a pain to navigate with our 4x2 Ford. I would love a side by side, but this would be an excellent alternative IMO.

Any body seen a 4x4 version available here.

OK how hard would it be to add a transfer box to a 2 wheel drive version of a Carry?

Phone Suzuki car Thailand head office or go to your local Suzuki car dealer and ask there is what I would do.

A Suk carry 2 wheel one would be OK IMO lots of em where we are.

I wouldn't bother if it wasn't 4x4. But it occurs to men that I could probably get on older 4x2  for pretty cheap and then do the conversion. But I haven't anyone to ask about feasibility. I imagine a Caribian transfer case and front end gear would be a good candidate, but I have limited knowledge and or experience.

The 2 wheel front wheels drive will be fine no need 4WD.

Anyway in Thailand 500 baht and a farmer with a tractor will pull you out of anything except a black hole in space maybe..

My Thai Chum has one, and the basic version seems to cover his wife in mud rather well without 4WD.:sorry:

The only small 660 cc 4X4 I have seen here is the Jinmy [bigfoot].....  I am sure the Suzuki Club Thailand would help as there are a lot here many 'Bigfoot' models..

I am looking for a small wheelbase, but not a that small of a motor, Some of those Carry's have 1600 cc mill. But even 1000 would do the job. Those Jimny's wouldn't work for me at all though. I need it for a farm truck, hauling stuff back and forth.

The 'Suzuki Carry' from 2005 on......... is much bigger and yes has a 1600 cc engine and manual....

Your picture posted is the Suzuki Every [also called Carry] and has a engine size of 657 - 658cc depending on year, also some have a Turbo and come in manual and in Auto.

You also have 'Wuling Pickup' 1200 cc......... DFM Pickup 1100 or 1300cc.........  Soken Pickup....... 1000cc, all are the size of the picture you posted and here in Thailand, not sure if any come in 4X4..

If there is one there must be two?

Wouldn't it be easier to get an older 4x4 pickup.  The models prior to 2003 / 4 were noticeably smaller than current versions.  The ones a little before that used conventional mechanical injection with much less power but also longer life and cheaper repairs.  Pretty good units for farm trucks.

Yep that is also an idea, but to get the really smaller ones its more than 20 years back and they are either pretty trashed, or restored, The trashed ones might not be worth anything at all, while the restored ones are really quite expensive. A 25 year old Hilux 4x4 can still fetch 300k.

But I am keeping my eyes open. Also their was the uniqueness factor of the little Carry which fits my sense of humor.

I passed a model like you are looking for coming back from Chiang Rai yesterday. Did not get a good look as he was waiting for the light and I passed at speed. But ws the same look as the Suzuki and had a 4X4 sticker on passenger side above the grill.

Was not new - a guess at least 10 or 15 years old
