Raids run by Bang Lamung district chief Naris Niramaiwong and Pattaya police chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch resulted in the arrests of four foreigners and three Thais running illegal hotels.

A total of ten properties were raided yesterday in a joint operation with the military and immigration police.

77Jowo said that it was connected to the raid on the Tulip Hotel last week when a sex orgy made the news at another hotel being run illegally.

Police made seven arrests with a French man, a Dutch national and an Indian among those taken away.

The premises said to be operating illegally and the person arrested at each are as follows. At each arrest evidence in the form of bills, receipts and money was taken in.

1. Central Pattaya Residence on Sai 2. Mr Rajan Malhotra, 55, Indian, arrested.

2. E-Outfitting Boutique Hotel on Sai 2. Xue Dong, 31 arrested.

3. Boutique City Hotel. Chaiyan Mongkhonkulasat, 62, from Nonthaburi arrested.

4. [name withheld]

5. Cocco Resort in South Pattaya. Sander Wolterring, 42, from Holland arrested.

6. Jomtien Thani Hotel on Jomtien Beach. Ms Sujinan Prangsurang, 49, arrested.

7. Atlantis Condo ( Building B )in Jomtien. Ms Daengkhamkhun, 47, arrested.

The arrest at number seven was the result of a sting with an officer posing as a client.

All those arrested were taken to Pattaya police station and charged with operating illegal hotels.

I know number of foreign owners have Thai wife or a girl friend. There is a foreigner registered on a Thai lady's name, but she is on a fixed monthly payment scheme.

As long as their Thai partner is happy, why police bother ?

Seems, this will crackdown many business, and you can soon see 100 Baht priced som-tham widely sold in Pattaya, rather than some Indian, French or Italian food.

And what of the "party houses"?

They open everywhere ,can be next your house .

Suddenly 50 or more people enter the house and make blasting noise for 2 or 3 days , non stop. You pay 5000bht a day and you can do what you want , neighbours can do nothing

because police and mayor dont help you.

Had to sell my house .

Go on the web and see for your self .

The owners list their house as "home-stay" and you can do nothing .

Police do nothing? Did you try? What's about the moo-baan-administration? Where did this happen?

Having been in the hotel business for 40 years in 7 countries any operator thinks he can operate without a licence has got rocks in his head. In Thailand it just takes a little longer to get caught

Hard to believe these businesses could slip through the cracks??

No it isn't. This is Thailand. And this is certainly only the tip of an iceberg.

If they had a hotel licence it would be in the wife or gf's name wouldn't it?The charge is NOT having a licence.  Next and different question is whether the Farangs had enough Thai workers and therefore a work work pemit for himself to be working, if for example they were on the front desk at the time of the raid.

If Police were really serious about doing their job (will never happen) how much work would be involved to visit hotels and bars in their districts to check for proper licenses ?    Almost every time we read about raids or incidents it seems these places are not properly licensed.

I love this. I love that they are rounding up all these disrespectful foreigners and shipping them out. If you want to live here, play by the rules like everywhere else otherwise <deleted> off.

What is the legality of a family member staying in condo for a few days when the owner is absent. No rent involved? I. E.  One family member letting another family member use the condo for a short period.
