A woman was killed and her boyfriend injured when their motorcycle was hit by a Porsche car on a Bangkok road on Sunday night.

Police said the accident happened at 10.30pm on the inbound Prasert Manukit Road near the Sukhonthasawat intersection in Bangkok's Lat Phrao district.

Police said Kalayarat Rod-iam, 21, died at the scene and the motorcyclist, Atcharisay Promsr, 20, was severely injured and rushed to Nopparat Hospital.

The driver of the Porsche 718 Cayman, Surat Atthatip, waited for police at the scene. He told police that the motorcycle changed lane and suddenly cut in front of his car so he could not slow down in time. Surat said he would provide footage from his dashboard camera to police to prove his account.

had the headline read,''woman riding bike hit and killed by car''..this dialogue would be very different''',, Thailand loves this soap opera drama.

Changed lanes ? It looks like a 1 way each way back alley. So my guess would be the bike was overtaking the car, the car driver got offended and put his foot down to stop it happening.

The car is right there in front of the police surely it is taken to a pound and checked over and they also don't need to be presented with the dash cam footage, they already have it.

Guess he just needs time to doctor the footage to prove him to be right.

I don't know what happened here, but I always wondered about the ways Thai riders change lines. They never turn back to see if anybody behind them and they can surely not check from the mirror of the bike either. I could see a lot of kamikazes changing the slow line to the fast-line on the highway.  Playing with their mobile is absolutely normal.

I think calculating these habits we do not have too many accidents in Thailand, especially when we know that they are really good at riding a bike. An average Thai woman is able to deliver a baby with complications when riding a bike.

Investing to an onboard camera or just using your old mobile is an excellent idea.

What on earth does that have to do with it?????

Really ? Don't you think that might be where the accident might have taken place ? How do you change lanes in a back alley ?

Look at the oil. petrol pool in front of the car and the trail of it from behind and up to the car, you think that might have come from the bike ?

Ever heard a picture paints a thousand words.

Absolutely, on a motorbike:

You can drive at 30 km/h, slip and slide on the tarmac and stand up with some scrapes and bruises.

You can drive at 30 km/h, slip and hit a power pole with your head and never stand up.

And perhaps stand up in your next life as a frog and hop around. Who knows?

Is there a reason you have started typing like a child ?
In this wonderful land where facts and money get blurred do you think the truth will ever come out ?

Have a rusk before you answer.

I reckon the vast majority of the 'hang them because they have a fast car' brigade wouldn't know a fast car if it jumped up and bit them on the arse.

Try driving a 'fast car' in a back alley here and you would be lucky to reach 50 kph because of the height and suspension combined with the potholes etc.

Did the bike have lights on? I don't know, do you?

Did the bike actually have working lights? I don't know, do you?

Did the bike rider have a licence? I don't know, do you?

The only 'assumption' I would make from the damage to the bike is from the fact that that the front is folded over and that might happen 'if' the bike swerved to miss one of the afore mentioned potholes and went front first into the car, but, that is really speculation on my part so even I am discounting it.

"Folded n half"?      I must be seeing a different photo than U.

The handlebars are touching the seat, if the seat was there. Not sure how much more folded you want it to be.

Certainly can't be ridden home or anywhere.

Well that is nice of him . Rather they should seize it as evidence.

The bike looks so well maintained as well looking at the wheels and tyres. Maybe so old and suffering from rust a good kick on the front would have folded it up.
