Has anyone had there motor serviced at a carbon cleaning shop. Any recommendations or complaint? Did you experience improved performance?

Sakeopete,

If you are concerned you can do it yourself.  In days of yore I used to do it to my Chrysler turbo engine according to their instructions.

You find a bottle/can of Top Engine Cleaner maybe even available at Tesco or Big C in the auto section?

I used to empty the spray can into the intake until the engine stopped when the can was empty and then leave overnight. When you restart the engine there is a lot of smoke like a mosquito fogger and all the carbon , in theory, should be gone.

If you car has no turbo and does not pre-detonate /pink then you probably don't need it.

My dad was a “Casite Tune-Up man. Pour through the carb every oil change. Mosquito fogger? That stuff would kill the termites in the foundation...

Keep air filter clean. Change oil at regular intervals.

If running a racing 2 stroke the cylinder head, exhaust ports and expansion chambers will need a regular service.

The rest - non issue.

I often read in the Australian Triton club that after carbon cleaning they get better performance from their diesels. There is a carbon cleaning shop in Bangkok easy to find on FB. They do petrol and diesel motors. They show before and after decibel meter results and horse power. Treatment is not expensive. I was hoping someone on TV has used them and could give feedback.

There are also places that will put nitrogen in your tires. Doesn't mean it is necessary.

Of course it is !!!

Nitrogen in the tyres plus an offset stripe or number on the door and you'll get another 5 to 10 mph on top speed.
