And yet the police paraded the three Indians as criminals, not the three Thai government officials who were accepting vast bribes and engaging in the falsification of official government documents.

Before the Indian bashing starts, it may be worth considering that the real culprits in this issue were the corrupt Thai officials.

  • I am also aware of plenty of people who are getting 12 month extensions and don't have any money in the bank lol   again through corrupt officials taking bribes

Now, No Indian nationals can marry in Thailand to Thais or any nationality.

That is far is it not?

Great news for destination weddings for sure.

Very nice of you to defend a stereotyping and bashing of Indians.

However the real culprits were the Indian customers, the "middle men" firm and the corrupt officials. All should be prosecuted. They should also have to pay compensation to the ladies whose names they misused.

These Indians are criminals who knowingly conspired with others to commit fraud. Not exactly innocent now are they?

Only they do normally involve the bride and her family in the arrangements, not keep it all a secret from them! ?

Good, I hope they're banned from re-entering Thailand for life. That said, what about the corrupt Thai police officers? What action will be taken against them?

Yep, People Paying Bribes are Half of the Problem !

Could it be that they were just "currying"  favour with said officials

Half the problem, and a significant percentage of GDP.

So that's why aggro this year doing marriage extension I'm English and with my tan maybe they think I could be Indian-British. ?

I have a tan too, but I shower daily and use deodorant, so I'm never mistaken for an Indian.

That is true. But, because of these scammers. the result is the vast majority of western Farangs married to Thais are put through horrible intrusive paperwork and inspections while 99 percent of their relationships are legit. No normal Thai woman marries a black, Arab or Indian. Unless for money.
