Hi All, The oil pressure on my 2.0 liter, Audi TTs, at 2000 RPM, hot engine, not under load is 40 PSI, rising to 45 PSI at 3000 RPM, again not under load, engine in neutral. Would you regard this as being acceptable. According to a few blogs have read, this appears to be fine, but it is a lot lower than on my Suzuki Caribbean.

Every engine has different oil pressures for it to survive. 40psi just off idle is OK on most engines.. What does the oil pressure read at 5,000rpm..?

Hi Transam, The car is limited to 3500 RMP, in neutral. On my next run will run it up to 5000.

Does the gage not have a “green” range?

How much oil pressure is enough? Keep in mind that what counts is flow. A time proven rule of thumb is 10psi/1,000rpm

The  dial is quite big as i remember, only had it 6 monthas.When i revved up it was just below the 60 marker,went to  25/30ish  on tickover. The BMW Garages can test it for you, saw one in there last week. Perhaps the Bosses Son.!.

 Should be About 30 if its OK.Certainly not a Keeper if your a hard driver, but fun for a while.Pump can go easy.

Hi All, thank you for your advise. Took the car for ride yesterday, on a hot engine, at 3500 RMP the oil pressure was 43/44 PSI.

What is your opion please.

Audi TTs Quattro 2.0 2011.

This is on a stepper motor gauge, as the car is not fitted with a gauge of its own.

Hi All, sorry I made a mistake, with the oil pressure readings, must need new glasses.

On a hot engine, warmed up to normal engine temperature, not under load.

At 900 rmp it is 18 PSI, 2000 rmp, 18 PSI, 3000 rmp 45 PSI, 3500 rmp 50 PSI.

What is your opinion, do you think the oil pressure is satisfactory.

I would be happy with 25 - 30 psi as a minimum
18psi is a bit low for me for any engine......

Any Oil Pressure problems reported on owners forums. How about a good engine flush - or two - then use a good oil. Maybe a 10/40 Shell or Petronas or Castrol.
