Police in Chiang Mai are hunting two Serbian tourists who targeted a Bangkok Bank ATM without success.

They tried to use a gas canister for cooking to help cut their way into the ATM next to the Ratchaphak University.

But the ATM was too thick and the thieves gave up when the gas ran out.

They attempted the theft on June 28th and it is not yet known if they have left the country.

Chang Pheuak police managed to track down the thieves names because they fled in a rental car and people had seen them buying the gas.

Warrants for aggravated theft at night have been issued in the names of Nenad Sakhochik and Laf Nikhlit (names transliterated from Thai).

Pol Lt Col Charnchai Jangwang said that the pair had been on a 60 day visa and suspected they may have run out of money prompting the attempted theft.

They intend to try to bring them back to Thailand even if they have left.

Probably on Interpol within minutes as being farang.easiest way out of this one is use some good old Thai bs.oh my card got stuck in the machine and I needed to go to 7/11.....oh and by the way while the army have power I don't think many countries are willing to send their own citizens back here.

And a month later grudgingly the BIB swing into action. This ain't no wild goose chase.

That bird has flown.

So, the interpol would be looking for two serbians by the names of Nenad Sakhochik and Laf Nikhlit ?

Good luck with that.

"aggravated theft at night"         Is there a different charge for " aggravated theft in daylight"?

Yes,
night time offence carries a higher penalty.

Where did it say that the investigation has only just, grudgingly started?

Much more likely they'd be looking for them using their correct names that they obviously have, not the names that were transliterated from Thai for the purpose of the OP.  Good luck with the reading practice.

Yes, there is.

ATMs are self-service, they probably decided to Serb themselves.

They may find them and bring them back....5555 .. not the boss right.. they know where exactly he lives..
