August 17, 20187 yr It sounds expensive. Was the bike registered to a company? What is the value of the bike?
August 18, 20187 yr No way buying a s/h bike costs 5000bht to sort the book out. Do you think Mr & Mrs Thai would pay that on a s/h bike that might have cost 5000bht....?
August 18, 20187 yr It's a few hundred baht, i can't remember the exact price, but i think below 500THB. For sure not 5000 ?
August 20, 20187 yr Author Dear all, thanks for your response, highly appreciated!I have faced this 5000 TH, when I bought a second hand Honda Phantom T200, few weeks ago.First, the bike had to be checked with the bike shop (condition to get registered), costs 200 THB.My brother in law should arrange the registration of the bike on my name, as he got told, those costs are 5000 THB.He told, the costs for residents is a few hundred Baht, only. Costs for foreigner is 5000 Baht. Those costs are meant for purchase a second hand bike only, while no costs if purchased a new bike. This is the whole story, that's why I liked to ask the forum, if members of the forum are known with those costs.Sent from my Hi9Air using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
August 20, 20187 yr I suspect most of the 5000 baht went in B.I.L's pocket....did you get a "certificate of residence" from immigration ?

This is just bullshit, as johng said already the brother in law probably put the 4500THB in his own pocket. For the brother in law to be able to register it in your name he needs a signed passport copy from you, a certificate of residence (or yellow house book) and a power of attorney. Is the bike in your name now? Probably in the brother in laws's name ?
