Having said that those restorations of older VWs,  but modern in historical terms,  look superb. especially the fabric upholstery in the beetle shown.  What about the engine re-builds ? do they use true German spares or re-manufactured in Thailand ? Does he have a website/ any stock or just restores what customers take to him ? Always liked the VW pick-up when I first saw them,  although a rarity,  on UK roads in the 50s and 60s, so love  the double cab shown.

Yes very nice...I wonder if the prices are amazing too ?

Some more examples of their fine work.

Seems almost every bus that made it to Thailand had the safari windows.

Extremely rare in North America.

When I was younger my brother and I were into v-dubs and had quite a collection.

Living in Canada they had a lot of gas heaters for the interior. We sold quite a few of them to Californians for top dollar as they were rare there.

They should be. Some appreciation for excellent and hard work would go long way.

Always loved the split screen campers.

Fantastic work .

Yes, totally agree, a very very talented chap, very artistic and creative.

Take a look at the other post with the Mini pickups, more examples of his work.

in my view anybody who drives a car in Thailand without a/c is a masochist. but 34hp and aircon is surprising.

Don'y know where he lives but I have pictures of most of the above because he had them on display in Maya (?) Mall last July?

As for Chiang Mai I have run across Karmen Ghia models in Chiang Mai, that I never knew existed, or were never sold in the US back when.

You can buy all the parts to add Safari Windows and the sunroof to Splitty Busses.

B3.8m for the 23 window bus on his website

They have a few of these on display now at Kad Suen Kuaw mall  Chiang Mai new food floor near Top's market. The new food court alone is worth the trip.

His home page gives an address in Bangkok, BangWa. Maybe he just had a display in CM to drum up business.

Answering my own question: The pale yellow Beetle is ฿590k. The steel-gray one is 930k. From photos on his FB page.

I went through about 7 or 8 beetles and a double-cab pickup back in the day.

We hippies adored these high-maintenance deathtraps.

I've owned 5 VW Beetles.  My first was a 1967 model, my last a 2009 New Beetle.  Loved them all.  Thanks so much for sharing!
