Rc2702 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Lovely work. Love the red and black T1 bulli 1
Popular Post Esso49 Posted September 3, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2018 No Volkswagen can be classified as a vintage car as Volkswagon did not start production until 1937 wheres to be a vintage car it can be no younger than 1930. Having said that those restorations of older VWs, but modern in historical terms, look superb. especially the fabric upholstery in the beetle shown. What about the engine re-builds ? do they use true German spares or re-manufactured in Thailand ? Does he have a website/ any stock or just restores what customers take to him ? Always liked the VW pick-up when I first saw them, although a rarity, on UK roads in the 50s and 60s, so love the double cab shown. 3
johng Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Yes very nice...I wonder if the prices are amazing too ? 2
Popular Post TommyTucker Posted September 3, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted September 3, 2018 My apologies, these are not technically vintage, but they are beautiful machines. I believe that this is a father and son team who purchase the vehciles, then strip them down to bare metal and full respray, rebuild etc etc. Some more examples of their fine work. 8

Looks like attention to detail is paramount with these restorers, something rare in Thailand. What lovely vehicles. Thank you for sharing 5
duanebigsby Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Seems almost every bus that made it to Thailand had the safari windows. Extremely rare in North America. When I was younger my brother and I were into v-dubs and had quite a collection. Living in Canada they had a lot of gas heaters for the interior. We sold quite a few of them to Californians for top dollar as they were rare there. 1
chicowoodduck Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 I'd take the red one in a heartbeat....great job....????? 1 1

LomSak27 Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Don'y know where he lives but I have pictures of most of the above because he had them on display in Maya (?) Mall last July? As for Chiang Mai I have run across Karmen Ghia models in Chiang Mai, that I never knew existed, or were never sold in the US back when.
VMOMMO Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 You can buy all the parts to add Safari Windows and the sunroof to Splitty Busses. B3.8m for the 23 window bus on his website
cmrichsw Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 They have a few of these on display now at Kad Suen Kuaw mall Chiang Mai new food floor near Top's market. The new food court alone is worth the trip. 1

Popular Post amexpat Posted September 4, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 4, 2018 I went through about 7 or 8 beetles and a double-cab pickup back in the day. We hippies adored these high-maintenance deathtraps. 2 1
newnative Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 I've owned 5 VW Beetles. My first was a 1967 model, my last a 2009 New Beetle. Loved them all. Thanks so much for sharing! 2
