Suthep is just cozying up to what he thinks are his future employers.

Clearly not a music lover, or lover of the truth either it would seem. The only thing abominable is the denial by such people of reality, so as to look after their vested interests.

Who let Suthep out of his coffin ?

“These days, all citizens are free to express their opinions in all aspects. So the authorities have to admit that we can’t limit the personal opinions of people, especially of the youth,” Maj. Gen. Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn, who also heads the Immigration Bureau, wrote Sunday on Facebook. “This is their opinion, which the poo yai should listen to.”

Big Joke is looking for likes it seems. His previous statement sounded quite opposite.

If that is correct, then IMO that is a really bold statement from BJ in the face of his ultimate bosses.

Again, if it is true, respect to him for understanding the 'little people's' opinions........................

You know, I hadn't listened to it prior to reading this story and to be honest had no interest in or intention of doing so.

However...I think I will now.

My only wish is, that in 10-20 years time, these rappers will not be selling their souls advertising the next big thing in beer or instant noodles!

What a truly ridiculous remark.

Damn kids and their art forms.

Back in my day.......

The politician who organized the street protests which ushered in military rule said Sunday that a YouTube rap video criticizing the junta was “abominable.”

How many people have been killed from rap versus military weapons Mr. Suthep that were under your command? If there's a political abomination in Thailand, Suthep should examine himself.

Any true and sound justice, he would still be in jail....

Rubbing elbows with the particular types.

This will eventually end up a clash between establishment dinosaurs and an awaking population of Thai youth.

I don't think so....

Been attempted and displayed numerous times in the past, with the same failed results.

I see the figures have just hit 20,131,796 views,  with 774K likes and 18K dislikes. (That's at 19:45)

You have to sign in now too, in order to watch the video (says it might be inappropriate for some users). I'd guess that's the strong English language subtitles.

He who dwells in the sewer pipes up...haha. No surprise here, as it (RAD truth) is at odds with his allegiance to the dictatorship and obviously so etc. Only a moron can't see it and this person should be dismissed by all who have a any decent feeling for the future of Thailand. This man is stain on Thailand and should be in jail for his treason. I look forward to him being jailed in the future by the young people who will eventually and have rightly won power in the not so distant future.

Amen.

All the time the idiots rail against this rap video they are effectively publicising it and promoting it, as of this moment the You Tube views are now 20.25 MILLION. That is astounding, just about 30% of the population if all Thais viewed it.

If watching translates into voting and action the regime is heading into oblivion - and a good thing too. Speaking to my family members they say the Junta are evil men. They are poor people so go figure! The rest of the poor will probably agree with them, and they will be a voting majority.

So, maybe it's "Go Thanathorn" and FFP soon?

Suthep is just another has been, hack politician who is tone deaf and totally out of step with the youth and the population. He would be the worst sort of man for the leadership job. What he says at This point, means less than zero.

That video is anything but abominable. Suthep is abominable on every level. That video said what needed to be said. Truth hurts sometimes. But truth is truth despite what some cretons say.

The junta have quickly backed down from their usual 'throw them in jail and threaten the public' tactics. I wonder if Suthep will now follow suit and begin to qualify his own remarks...?

Bully boys can often be caught off guard.

That doesn't mean that the mailed fist has turned to origami as a professional pursuit.

True enough. Let's wait and see what transpires.

The police have officially backed down from any arrests. The statement says "Deputy police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said there was no evidence at this stage to charge the rappers -- so listening, singing and sharing Prathet Ku Mee was “legal for now”.

I can't provide a link I'm afraid.  A source not allowed here.

'Legal for now. But just you wait' would appear to be the connotation. Always threats, direct or implied with this crew. Oh, vote for us, by the way. We care!

Idiots.

Me neither. But just think how the phrase 'Prathet goo MEE!' as declaimed by the artists buzzes round in the head. It works, doesn't it?

And then there are the junta dirges, tearfully penned by a man with undying love of his country and by the way we will put you in jail, which are compulsory listening but nobody is interested in.

I am far too old for the mosh pit these days, but I still side with the young and their ideals of something better. Both here and worldwide.

That is all it needs to be a success. People saying it is bad is sure to promote it higher.

Will he now back flip on his comment now the top cop says,  nothing to see here.

Was in the Australia media, thai military regime threatening rap artists with imprisonment for expressing an opinion.  I think these numnuts should keep their mouths shut and cease with the threats, don't they realise they have given this song world wide publicity.
