Police given incriminating iPad in Chiang Mai upskirt case

A Chiang Mai University dean on Monday turned over to police an iPad belonging to a former lecturer at the school who has been accused of using it last month to take photos beneath female students’ skirts.

 

The lecturer has not been publicly named.

 

It’s understood that Associate Professor Prapa Sukkasem, dean of the Faculty of Humanities, obtained the device from the accused at the request of Phuping Rajaniwet police.

 

Prapa declined to answer reporters’ questions.

 

Provincial police deputy chief Pol Colonel Theerapol Intharalip said the iPad contained convincing evidence and he was confident the investigation, though it would take time, would result in charges being filed.

 

Theerapol made the comment on Monday morning after assigning women police investigators to help interview the three student victims in the Phuping Rajaniwet precinct conference room.

 

He said several preliminary charges had already been prepared.

 

The alleged crime came to light on October 30 when the students consulted an adviser and other faculty lecturers with claims about being photographed from inappropriate angles.

 

CMU vice president Rome Jiranukrom said late last week the university launched a fact-finding probe and the accused resigned as a special lecturer on November 3.

Don't understand why it would take time,they have the IPad AND if

it has not been wiped clean,should be enough to charge the perv,

I suppose they will need to find girls who are willing to make a formal complaint, then get their written statements and match them to the appropriate photograph(s), by date/time.

 

To me, the most important thing is to ensure that this man is never again put in a position of authority over young people. The fact that he has resigned does not prevent him from gaining another teaching position. I think we have read about such cases before.

the sad thing is the pics really are open for viewing, and for it to become official all those girls have to go to police station and in front of male police point out themselves in the photos.

once this is done the police will take the ipad 

no formal charges will be made and to my understanding unless royalty was involved no formal charges are possible - boggles the mind

the lecturer will leave but no charges will happen

the rest of the faculty will be making jokes about it, and probably mock the girls involved as well

seen this all happen first hand

 

I need some positive news to read again such as the rap music indicating that people do care in this country and they are'nt all just useless sheep with an interest in baht and nothing else

CHIANG MAI — Police issued a warrant Monday for the arrest of a university lecturer who allegedly took upskirt videos of his students.

 

Jadet Techasai, a 30-year-old Thai-language professor at Chiang Mai University, is accused of taking upskirt videos of his students through an iPad tablet.

Joking aside I would imagine many police have daughters themselves and want to see that perv locked up.

As the father of a daughter at this university, I wholeheartedly endorse this comments. I could add some of my own, but don't relish being banned for profanity.

I cannot understand how taking a picture of a girl up her skirt in the circumstances shown could show anything even slightly racy or stimulating.  How many school girls go commando, for heavens sake?   There are some sick puppies out there.  Sick enough apparently to even try in the expectation of......well whatever!   Surely he has an IQ too low to be on a Uni staff.  It is not as if either real porn or real sex are hard to find in Thailand.  What a loser!  Sick AND Stupid!
