Quite difficult to afford an expensive hobby like a big bike with a 15k salary.

thats correct too but at least they can teach their staff about motorcycles. Not every Formula 1 specialist here is driving a Formula 1 car ????

Not available in Thailand I believe and not really made for travel and I was commenting on the weight of bikes, 500X is 197 kg my CRF250 at 145 kg is good with 250 kilos fuel range, the 250R would be nice at 108 kg but not at nearly 3 times the price of the 250L. ????

EVERYTHING is available in Thailand if you have the money to pay for it ????
And on what planet you rode 250km (i guess  you are talking of kiloMETERS by typing kilo (1000)) on a CRF250?  with an Acerbis? for sure not on a stock tank. Or you ride like a granny and have 50kg. I never managed on my 250L (7,8Liters Tank) more than 170km and on My Rally never more than 230km (10.1Liters Tank)

Usually the staff there don't play on their phones or at least are attentive if customers come. The head sales guy is knowledgable and passionate enough imho. For the girls, it's a bit hit'n'miss but they always called me back after checking.

Normally orders for parts that are not in stock take roughly 3 days, max 1 week for these bikes.

Maybe give them another try. If you can provide required info then I could also raise the issue with the owner if still falling short of expectations if you like. He definitely cares to provide good service.

Has anyone an idea how much the new  CB500X 2019 is in Krabi or Bangkok or Surathani?

I picked one up in Bangkok a couple of months ago.  I think base price was exactly 219,000.

I went into the store few weeks ago (Honda Bigwing Ladprao) and had a look at the CB500X, besides the base model they had another version with some accessories mounted for a couple of baht extra. Now i'm trying to find info about that version but can't see anything on the website neither on their Facebook page. Does anyone have that info by any chance?

There is no official version like that. Most likely the shop added some farkles to the bike and offered it for sale, this doesn't come from Honda.

I got a great 2016 cb500x with Cariboo panniers, a top box, 4 led floodlights, and crash bars for 140,000 baht.   Thing runs great,  gets about 70 mpg and has the oomph for riding fully packed and with a pillion anywhere I have gone in Thailand.

I used to have an XR650L and I miss the suspension and torque,  but there is no way I could ride with a pillion on an XR

Weird, I've been a customer for years there and have had only great experiences with them. What exactly was the issue if I may ask?

Ditto. Only good experience. They fix what needs to be fixed and won't talk you into things that don't. Always polite and flexible with me at least and I only ride a CB500F. I guess you need to be tuned in for Thai mentality. Foreigner jedi tricks won't work on them.

Head sales guy knows his stuff and they regularly send mechanics to BKK for various service trainings.

I had the WORSE experience today i EVER had in the past 20 years since I am living in LoS and for SURE I will NEVER BUY ANY BIKE IN HONDA BIG WING again if the owner (i asked the staff today and they said yes) is the same of the shop on the other side of the street.
1. They counted the costs for a new breakcylinder  510.-Baht (still  having the paper)

:
2. When I wanted to order it on phone she said she will call back in 10min ... WE called back after the weekend 3days later and she said she forgot it AND doesnt have our number... The number is visible on the DISPLAY of your phone when calling!
Than she said we have to come for placing the order. OK they dont trust their customers so I had to ride there with a broken break cylinder  25km to  HKTown   back to  Rawai 25km and today ...10days later 25km  again because she forgot again to call that the part had arrived from BKK on Thursday.. so 75km with a broken break cylinder.

:
3. Today the new part was there, i dont care about the 500.-Baht more, it was now not 501 it was 1000+ Baht  PLUS about 400 for the works.  Usually in HONDA UBC where i go normally the work is incl.  the part. OK i dont care about that either. BUT
What i care about is when ppl ...so called MECHANICS   telling me i can not watch, while they are working on my bike.
And if they are having no idea AND giving me a not proper fixed bike.
1st  The Break Light did not stop after Breakcylinder change
2nd The Break was not working at all,
3rd after 2 times of telling them its still not 100% ok and waiting for another 1/2 hour they fixed it and it was working 80% ... its a BREAK !!! not a horn! I can drive without a proper working horn but not without a proper working break!!
I bring it to my mechanic tomorrow morning who really is one.

So somebody telling me WHY I should throw my money into the hands of a Motorcycle Dealer with a service like that who obviously can not manage to make customers happy ....i was not the only one with problems there, there was a Swiss guy too in the shop.... If I can buy the new CB500X in Krabi or Surathani I will... Actually i wanted to buy her in Phuket next monday BUT NO, NOT in this BIG WING shop and I will write not only here about it.

:
I am in a Motorcycle Forum with around 8300  Riders  who are reading my posts and also on an Adventure Riding  Forum and a lot of folks there are living in Thailand. I am a biker since 40 years but this experience with this shop was  todally NOT-fun anymore

This HONDA shop has obviously a Monopol here in Phuket and I really hope it would change, just for the fun of COMPETITION... if one has no competitors he can work like he does,  just .... on the customers ????

Have you raised the issue with a senior staff and what was their response?

i didnt see any senior stuff around and  i was angry and tired already, anyways they do not care, so why spending more energy on this useless case? I just go and buy somewhere else.
The only thing i really HATE is, its the only Shop can sale HONDA so called BIG BIKES and I want to buy the new CB500X asap!
May be I try to contact HONDA but for sure i will not buy it in Big Wing Phuket if its the same owner as the shop on the other side of the road and thats what ppl confirmed yesterday.
:
I btw been in the Big Wing shop about 10 days ago when ordering the breakcylinder for my other bike and the Staff was very friendly and helpfull and answered all my questions, not like before. Young very nice lad with some English skills.

Well how do you know that the managers don't care if you didn't try to talk to them? Raise the issue with them, maybe even raise it over at Bigwing. Yes it's the same owner. Yes there's quite some difference in service between the two shops. I know from experience. But if the senior ones hear about the issues, they'll eventually take care of it. Best if you know which staff you dealt with etc. Go and tell them that you want to buy the CB500X but had a pretty bad experience on the other side of the road and are not sure anymore. This will give them more reason to follow up on the problem(s) and maybe gives you some negotiation headstart.

The young lad at Bigwing is a decent guy who tries to make the customer happy and doesn't BS around. Not sure but maybe the small scooter business is not a big priority for them anymore? They were awarded the Bigwing dealership because they were the #1 Honda scooter dealer before.

If you buy the bike in Surat Thani (nearest Bigwing I think) then you probably will service it anyways in Phuket.

yes, may be you are right, but at the moment i really dont want see this shop from inside anymore, not the one, nor the other.
When I bring my CRF-250L to such a big shop, I expect some real mechanics, not some amateur tinkerers, specially when my life depends on brake sometimes.
I will  find out if Surathani or Krabi, even Bkk has the same owner, i dont care  much if I ride a bit further for buying a new toy ????
i have a couple of bikes and there is always some more space.
Service is not much work on the HONDAs anyways and an oil and filter change I can do at any other HONDA Dealer like UBC or even do it myself.
may be i am in the mood to go for them again if some time has passed but you know, i told you before about this shop, then i was happy again and now i am frustrated again about them, thats  2:1 for a NO
:
Thanks for wasting your time on this anyways Khun Eisfeld ????

Agree about the suspension, even in central Bangkok my CRF comes in handy for the huge holes in the roads.  The new 500x looks like some of the benefits of the CRF with a bit more power.

I thought wire wheels were supposed to be better for rough roads, which is why adventure and dual sport bikes have them?  But I have to admit, I've not heard of CB 500 cast wheels collapsing, even on Thai roads.

I bent the bead on my rear wheel cranked over and hit a small pot hole at about 120-130km south of Mae Hong Son. The bead held for another several hundred km on bitumen and dirt roads over Phrae and Uttaradit before I got to the nearest repairer. See photo.

Magnesium alloy rims do break if you give them a bit of a hard time offroad. Spoked wheels due to their inherent design withstand a lot more impact before there is serious damage.

All standard suspension on these budget bikes are terrible. The front springs are set for about 65kg rider + gear. The rear shock has no rebound damping to speak of and is dangerous at legal speeds for a heavier rider.

Getting after market front end springs and revalving along with an aftermarket rear shock with correct spring weight gets the bike handling.  Adding a braid front brake line and HH scintered front brake pads will improve the stopping and feel.  While still underpowered for highway use with gear are great fun, with these changes.

The 2019 model with the 19 inch front will not assist on the bitumen mountain roads but will assist offroad, much like the V strom and wee Strom. The bike would be changed dramatically with another 20 hp. But the engine itself is sweet. The counter balance does a good job. On more than a handful of times I have ridden 500+km for 7 to 10 days continuously on this bike and vibration is never a consideration.

UBC wont service the CB500X though. There's no Bigwing in Krabi as far as I know, only in Surat Thani and that's a 3.5h ride or so. I would maybe also take the smaller Hondas somewhere else. Before I thought you ordered the break cylinder from Bigwing but seems I misunderstood and that was for the CRF250L in the scooter dealer. So the only "bad" experience was some girls playing on their phone and maybe not being able to answer your questions? And the young guy provided good sales service? Doesn't sound sooo terrible to me. Just try to seperate the two dealerships in your head, even if it's the same owner. For some reason it's just not the same standards. But like I said, tell them about the issues and see if they listen. That's the least we can do to try to improve service. It's in our own interest ????

Honda splits the dealerships into two systems as you know. And there's a big difference in service between those two worlds. The Bigwing staff are paid better, that includes the mechanics. And they are trained better. And they check on the quality more closely. I have tried several different small Honda dealers all over the place and my experience has not been great. On average, they are below average ???? But with Bigwings I have made good experiences in Phuket, Hua Hin, Korat, Udon and last weekend Khon Kaen (though only minor service in the last one). So on average, the Bigwings are above average when it comes to motorcycle dealership experience in Thailand.

and thats exactly the thing i am not so sure anymore.

If the guys having the BIG money for buying bigger bikes are dealed better with, as the poor fellas can affort only to buy Scooters or CRF250s, there  must be something wrong. If the service is better in one of the two shops the owner obviously just dont care enough.  Btw, i did not buy my CRFs just because i was too cheap to spend more money, there was just no other bike here for every day use i like and a SCOOTER is a no go for me....even with 1000cc its still a scooter not a Motorcycle in my opinion ????

We all know that Thais having two measures and i hear you, i understand what you are talking about. Thais never complain, at least not the poor guys. I for myself hate it very very very much when its raining and i want to park under the roof at HOMEPRO or TESCO or Villa Market or MACRO and the parking guy comes and wants to push me away because i am riding ONLY a motorcycle.
Even if a Harley is more expensive as the most bikes he know, he wants you to park in the rain with the other motorcycles because his Boss said... under Roof parking for rich people in Cars ONLY ...TiT and just plain stupid! but as long as we are always the only ones complaining about something like this, who cares?

I  do since years shopping with my bikes, sure i can use my PickUp with Aircon too, but why wasting more time and more fuel and more space on the street? I like the natural enviroment so  i am trying to not drive car when not necessary. ...
i know  :sorry:  OFF TOPIC ????

Have a great day ...or evening
