I saw that mexican girl on local TV in LA and she had a good voice on her own...never did go anywhere with it, unfortunately...

jvs, I truly appreciate you introducing some quality Dutch bands that I've never heard of.  I can understand how bands from the continent were probably overshadowed by the plethora of music coming out of the U.S. and the U.K.  YouTube is wonderful in that many do remember this lost music and put it up for others to discover.

I'm sure you're familiar with Kaz Lux, ex-Brainbox.  Here he is teaming up with Jan Akkerman on Hey Joe.  Very sweet guitar on this number.  No sure about the recording date or album.

Jan Akkerman with Focus performing Hocus Pocus from the '70 Focus II LP.  They played the living s-h-i-t out of this on AM radio in the States.

Interesting that Jan Akkerman was voted Best Guitarist in the World by readers of the UK magazine Melody Maker.

A lot of lost great music coming outta Germany back in the 60's, too.  Wer könnte vergessen Lass Dir Zeit (Walk don't Run Vocal) bei Die Crazy Girls von '65?

Opps!

Seriously, though, there were some good bands out of Germany during that era.  Tangerine Dream was well known in the States.  Cloudburst Flight from their '79 Force Majeure LP.

Avant-garde band Can was another rather well known German band.  Bring Me Coffee Or Tea off of their '71 Tago Mago LP.  Perhaps too avant-garde for most.  bannork is currently playing Aumgn off of this same LP to his chickens to increase the quantity and quality of their egg production.  Should have a report re by him in about 6 months.  Maybe even some sample eggs to ingest.

Heavy blues rock krautband Rumplestiltskin with Make Me Make You off of their '70 self-titled debut.

When i was young it was not cool to listen to German made music, there was still a lot

of animosity against Germans. My grandpa would have wrecked my stereo for sure.

Luckily now things are much better on that front.

I do remember a few songs but they were not rock or blues,of course there was Kraftwerk.

It's a good question to put to other posters . . . what are you're favourite guitar solos?

Here's Hendrix on Hey Joe at an unidentified concert and date.

Those were the days, thank you..

When our family emigrated to the U.S. from Germany back in the late 50's my dad had the spelling of our family name changed so it wouldn't appear so obviously German.  I endured a lot of ridicule for being a "Nazi" even amongst school children once I entered grade school.  Impacted me more than anyone could imagine.  Gave me my first awareness of how people, especially children, can so unwittingly be led to adopt beliefs without any introspection, without the slightest questioning of a belief's validity, or without any consideration for a belief's ultimate effects on private and mass reality; whether beneficial or damaging.

I'm now just an old young man, or a young old man, reflecting on the experiences of a lifetime, of lessons learned and of knowledge gained.  Yearning, like so many others, for a world in harmony where we are each to another complimentary rather than adversarial, co-operative rather than competitive, congenial rather than antagonistic.  Brothers and sisters one and all.  For in an as yet unrecognized reality that is who we truly are.  The 60's were undoubtedly, not in whole but certainly in part, a reflection, an expression of that same yearning.

LOL, I did say that I was impacted rather profoundly so forgive my pontificating.  And this concludes my Sunday sermon.

Music, the great uniter.  And now Fleetwood Mac with an apropos song off of their '69 Then Play On LP.
