Can you defend yourself?
The guys just a bit of a crackpot. He tries to make out that all foreigners are bad and all Thais are wonderful. He comments on a public forum, then if anyone replies to him, he starts to get angry that people are "getting involved". As if his comments exist in some kind of vacuum, whatever he says is fact, and anyone who disagrees is winding him up. That's why I found it particularly ironic that he would give another user a dressing down for behaving a lot like him.- 1

I'n a bit more optimistic in that, but I do see your point. I think the TRD will recognize these accounts as self-directed pensions and that any income within the account isn't taxable. only distributions. -

Hi, is it true that if you enter Thailand by land (Chiang Khong) with the 60-days exempt and then extend another 30 days, that after that you have to fly out, and can't just cross the land border again and cross back in after two days and start again with another 60-days+ extendable exemption? Yep, for those and other reasons, I prefer to keep all my U.S. banking and FI profiles with my U.S. address, and never do anything U.S. official with my TH address. Because there are too many past stories of people's U.S. FIs closing or freezing people's accounts after determining they were no longer "U.S. residents." Every FI handles the residency issue based on their own internal practices.. So there's no one size fits all standard for that... What you can get away with at one FI you'll end up getting grief from a different FI... And the problem is, you'll never know in advance UNTIL the bad news potentially arrives some day. It's a risk. -

Investment for income stream for a Thai
Howdy, I'm trying to help my gf to park funds available into some investment which would bring reliable regular income but doesn't require much knowledge and tinkering. She is very good with her business, but otherwise financially illiterate. I was thinking whether some kind of index fund similar to Vanguard but with Thai shares exists here. She is very scared of these types of investments telling me she has no idea what to do if one day I leave herπ The other options are buy to let real estate or getting orchard farm developed in the are around (Surat Thani/Chumpon or around) but this would require more effort and time investment. Anything I'm missing that may generate steady 5% without too much fuss? -

The Thai ETA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation)
It's tied to airline insisting on onward flight for visa exempt plans to visit Thailand. That is still very much the case. Your posts re a particular airline is misleading and certainly not the norm regarding no need to attend airline for boarding pass and check. You being Oz need eVisa for Vietnam. Take a trip and you will find airline check in required. Also on return to Thailand same. Online check in not available. Oz to Vietnam (just one example) the same.
