When will the cool(er) period end?

Such nice weather right now. I'm trying to think back to how long it will last and don't remember.

Best recollection is the humidity and head begin to slowly creep back in during February (peaking in mid April).

Is that about right? If so, do you guys usually run the AC during Feb or is it dry/cool enough to forgo like right now?

When the daytime temperature gets to 25C then I turn off the aircon
(about once in 100 years in Pattaya)
...even then it goes on at night to provide some white noise to blot out "Mr No Exhaust pipe" and "The Soi Dog singers".

I usually avoid the A/C from January to December.  Sometimes run it when air pollution is bad or during Songkran if street noise needs muffling.

Facinating and rivitting subject....really glad I didn't miss it ..?

Didn't you get the memo - Pattaya is a G rated hub for families.  The weather is always a hot/cool topic.

As Brunolem said we have not had winter up here either this year. Have had about 3 mornings 14c (otherwise about 20C) but the days are 30+. Have not had to have a fire (or brandy/rum) at night to keep warm The season appears to be changing now with some migratory birds already passing through.

Yes correct Jan and Feb are great. Starts to heat up March onwards. I hardly use any AC Dec/Jan/Feb.

it all depends on one's location

I used to tell myself that the days start to warm Feb 15. The nights start to warm first week in March. These days it feels warm in January in BKK.

A few years ago we used to get a few weeks every year when it was noticeably cooler and when I might turn the aircon off, but these days the difference in minimal and my aircon stays on all year.

Yep, its getting worse all the time.

Back in 1979 when the cool season started you had 2-3 months of really cool weather. Going out in the evenings you had to dress up and wear socks and a jacket. And that was Bangkok.

Now, even the Thais joke that they still have 3 seasons.

Rainy

Hot

Bloody hot.

This is the Pattaya forum...so it doesn't get below about 23C ever ! We are not on Doi Internon @ 3000 + meters above sea level.

On the other side to Pattaya here, but it has been a horrible cool season.  bearable in the early mornings but not really cool and heating up by 8-9 am. We haven't had the aircon off this year either (for the first time in 17 years) as posters have mentioned.

You are joking of course. I only seem to remember 2 cooler nights so far this year. Ask my dog I put her vest on.

Not much of a cool season in Bangkok,  either.  Back up in the 90s (32C+) after 5 days

of nice coolness.  That was it.  Hope you enjoyed it.

Now is the time to visit the mountain areas for some really cool weather.

I experienced 5 degrees Celsius last year on top of Doi Inthanon . It was so nice and I enjoyed every minute of it. Plan to go back in a few weeks.

Apart from a few cooler days and nights here and there, yes, it's been hot weather as usual most of this 'cool season' in Bangkok.

I wish, only a few guest houses, or you can bring your own tent.
