Yes, but Chevy have a 383ci small block that is not a stroker, called ZZ383, 100% new block and crank to provide 383ci. It is 425hp out of the box...

the ZZ383 uses the 400ci 3.75 crank doesn't it ?

No..

No its not the 400 crank or no it is not a 3.75" crank ?

Wow - that will great when finished.  But I guess for trips to shows only, as will be tough to registered.

I see Thai owned classics on the roads when going to shows - no Thai reg plates, but the police don't when the travel in packs.

From memory the block is brand new with a 4" bore, the crank is new to give 383ci.

Have a read.....https://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/chevrolet/na/us/english/index/performance/resources/installation-guides/crate-engines/01-images/zz383-deluxe-crate-engine-19301295.pdf

I was wrong,  the ZZ383 runs a 3.8" which an OEM forged piece but also sold through the likes of JEGS and SUMMIT as a 383 stroker crank.

4" bore is same as 350 so nothing special there and the only details I can find on the actual block is that it is a 1986+ block that has 1 piece rear seal with 4 bolt mains and is clearance for the 3.8" crank...

It is a stroker motor.

It does not have a 400 crank...Plus, we refer to a stroker as putting a 400 crank in a 350 block as an upgrade, this is a factory new assembly....

it is a 3.8" stroke crank in a clearance 350 block.

The crank (part # 12489436) is sold aftermarket as a stroker crank....

FWIW a 400 crank (2.75" stroke) into a 350 block (4.0" bore) does not equal 383 cu.

A 400 crank is 3.75, ZZ383 is a NEW 3.8 crank, 350 block is 4.00 bore, ZZ383 is a 4.005. All parts are brand new. I think the readers now understand so leave it there eh..The topic does not warrant more on the subject... ????

The Chevy 383 Stroker is an 8 cylinder engine that uses the popular production Chevrolet 350 block and a slightly altered Chevrolet 400 crank. A stock 350 has a piston stroke length of 3.48 inches. The 400 crank changes the 383 to a total stroke of 3.75 inches. This produces a total displacement of 383 cubic inches (thus the name 383).

Yeah I already mentioned the crank is a 3.8"... did you miss that part.

It is called a stroker motor whether you agree or not.

Cheers, have a great day !!

350 block is 4" bore, 400 block is 4.25" bore hence the 400 crank in a 350 block does not give 383ci.

bore x bore x stroke x 0.7854 x number of cylinders = cubic capacity.

4" x 4" x 3.75 x 0.7854 x 8 = 376.992 cubic inches....... well shy of 383.

And for transman, even the chevrolet blurb on the zz383 says stroker crank.
