But there'd be more money for the IMM officers to make if they found a way to cut out the agents.

Handing in all the documents in brown envelopes?

No -- just charge for the ink used on all those stamps with the same mark-up as the 500 baht Tylenol tablet at the hospitals.

Oh the horrors!

Without corrupt Immigration officers -- how are so many retirees suppose to prove that they qualify with other people's money ????

I believe there are more honest ones. Unfortunately, they are surrounded by a sea of greedy, lawless and vindictive sharks.

Well finally Big Joke is doing something positive.

Just a word of warning though, there are many more in immigration who need rooted out.

This is just the tip of a very large iceberg.

Jomtien immigration needs a proper cleaning.

Don’t worry, they will only cause problems for the low hanging fruit. Senior officials will keep on keeping on.

Is that a truncheon he has in his pocket or is he excited about the arrests?

Thing is .... You don't become a Thai cop with the intention of being honest. I've lived here too long. Forgive me. The whole system feeds on corruption. It is the lifeblood and as much as I sincerely hope Big Joke is the 'Man' my sixth sense is screaming gob $hite at me.

You are not really different ; still only 1/10 using agents, same as my condo,

and very far from the post I quoted:

So lets assume at least 10 % use agents (i assume thats way way on the low side)

It will cause hardship to foreigners and thai families  as well hammer the immigration officers and their bosses income.

Certainly a BJ that will be hard to swallow

Also lastly  what if just staying your agent is an IMO

This is the type of determination that is largely missing from Thai culture: the will to go after your own clan when it breaks the rules.

I very much respect this action if it is indeed accurate. Very impressive, and I hope he remains safe and free from the inevitable shouts of

"Are you Thai?! You fight against Thai people?!"

Thais like to invoke nationalism whenever they are backed into a corner like this.

I found one of those smiley face stamps. Licked it and felt all peculiar for the rest of the day!

I've noticed in other photos of him that he's unusually well hung for a Thai. Surely, it's just where he keeps a clean pair of socks.

As there are many expats who need to be rooted out.

Good he is working on that also.

They should have photos of them in their uniforms ! But I guess the Thai police didn’t want the Shame to reflect on the police !

One wonders where this sudden outbreak of honesty will end up. The army?

This guy had better be a bit careful not to go looking under the big rocks.

I suspect a lowly sgt major would be small fish and rank low in the food chain.

On the face it I’d have to say well done and urge the good general to continue the purge.

if he was so honest he would arrest himself for being part of a criminal gang taking power of the country.

This is for show to keep everyone on their toes for the upcoming influx of tourism for chinese new year, wouldnt want any rogue officials showing up on youtube punching and threatening chinese tourists would we now

Wish he'd go after the IO I saw at CW the other day. I'd gladly testify against the <deleted>..

After chasing so many illegal foreigners eventually the time came to plug the hole that was letting them all come in.. for a fee !!!

If not he'd be chasing illegals for the rest of his life, as fast as he could chuck-em out his colleagues were letting more in.

Just hope he has a good minder, hitting on your own could be a quick promotion to the next life !!

I will only be surprised if they get jail time don't hold your breath.

How does it work, an immigration officer doesn't have to use fake stamps, they can just stamp with the real stamps that they use at work, can someone explain how it works?

u need to change the rules for cops ...for example pay them a decent wage...the way it is now it is only natural that cops work together w. gangsters

In that case, his days are numbered.

Great job. I always wonder when I see the goon pimp drug dealers up close down around lower Suk, how the heck did you get in? One time on the way back from Phuket I walked through the out door by accident at Suvarnabhumi and got stamped going out. I was in immigration for 2 hours and nearly got deported. They had to call in their best English speaker (much to my fortune) for me to explain.

Here is the real point. Where ever there is terrorism, there is documentation fraud. Mainly passports but visas also. Always. Anyone who has access to info will say.

Why not beginning with Koh Samui Immigration ?

Gulp.... never thought I'd see the day.  The thing is I don't want Thailand to be a boring place like UK, USA, Australia, etc.  No one I know is making good money back in Blighty.

What?????? So you didn't know About murderer Blair and his familys several million pound houses and what not?

I don't think any of the Thai government personel and ex personel come close to him where riches are concerned.

And this was a UK "socialist" Premier.
