It’s still closed but the coral reef restoration project at Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Ley needs more volunteer divers.

The Marine National Park Operation Centre 3 (Trang) says that the project has been conducted by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation under the support of the founder of Ocean Quest Global Anuar Abdullahwho has provided advice and necessary training for the restoration process of the fragile coral infrastructure at the closed marine national park.

He says that all methods being applied are natural methods of propagating coral.

So they destroy it with their greed and then want volunteers to help restore it !!

I think/hope they mean Thai volunteers...as any foreigners would need a **** ******

or they could be in big trouble.

That bay made millions of $$ and now they need volunteers?? ????????????

Sorry- no work permit.????

What happened to all the national park fees over the years?

Coral doesn't  grow so well on Mercedes.

I think this would be a good training project for Thai Navy Divers. After all they are not away fighting any wars !

And the problem for foreigners here will be Work Permits.

This is an important project. Keep it closed for at least 10 years to let the Eco-system recover, and then send the bill to 20th Century Fox. They created this problem to start with.

The linked article in the OP shows some people having some great fun, a good portion of them foreigners.

Sadly, the consensus here on TVF is to piss all over them.
