Taxi causes nine-vehicle carnage on Patong Hill

PHUKET: A taxi driver carrying tourists from the UAE was involved in a multi-vehicle crash yesterday morning (Apr 4) on Patong Hill.

 

Patong Police Chief Col Anotai Jindamanee told The Phuket News today (Apr 5), “The accident happened at about 10am in front of the Wyndham Sea Pearl Resort and caused major traffic on the hill.”

 

“The accident was caused by a white Toyota Alphard Vellfire taxi which was carrying a family of tourists from Dubai,” he explained.

I take this road multiple times every week and it's just a miracle that not more accidents are happening.

The driver must have been a newbie. Not mentioning 'brake failure' was a big mistake, he's doomed now.

I was surprised the taxi driver didn't run off like usain bolt.

Sadly we probably won't get to hear the excuse, for there will be one. But I'd be quite surprised if there's a brake failure claim on a relatively ne Vellfire.

Bit of an exaggeration to call this incident a 'carnage'. Apparently one passenger suffered a minor nose injury!

The novel way of stopping will catch on here for sure???? 

Ban Thai people from driving altogether and you will I’ve a safe way back home,  a lot of lives will be saved. Please please stop these dangerous people and keep them away from anything with an engine and wheels period ????????‍♂️

Numerous “wais” go to this incompetent driver for not running away from the scene ( was his seat belt stuck?)

No, it wasn't. It was caused by a Thai driver going too fast to stop. Or maybe his brakes failed, as everyone knows that brakes on vehicles in Thailand are pretty much useless.

At least they don’t discriminate by nationality, although the Chinese seem to take the brunt of injuries and deaths.  Keep them coming boys-burn em and churn em-hey is that a wallet?

of course he could not stop in time,  probably watching Spiderman vid on his i pad, like the big bus driver coming from BKK to Pattaya a few months ago
