Watched the saints/lions game, bit of a nothing concerning both teams. BOG went to Ahmed Saad who was everywhere and looked like he had never been suspended for two years. Still has the customary long slow walk up for goal tho.

Did they call 30 seconds on him?

Western Bulldogs Tom Liberatore will miss the 2015 season after injury suffered in a game against Richmond

http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8962586

makes you wonder if the NAB is worth it, clubs taking risks with thier top order players.

Absolutely it is worth it.

Its exposure for the young players.

Injuries happen at training too.

Is training worth it?

Am looking for options to watch AFL this season, after many years of waiting TOT hooked up my 30 mb fibre/optic connection yesterday.

It seems that streaming via Watchafl and Expattv android box are the main options and would be pleased to get members views and experiences re the best option.

Go Dees.

Go Dees.

One of the regulars on here usually finds some free streaming channels which he posts.

I'm not sure about Expat TV, had a quick look and not sure if they broadcast AFL.

WatchaflL on the other hand seems really good. You can obtain a free pass for

the NAB cup at the moment.

Why don't you sign up and give it a crack.

I've just done that and have to say I'm really impressed with them.

Thanks Will,Isigned up yesterday after TOT finished my installation ,but unfortunately the telecasts were over so will buy a HDM cable and try it through the big tv on Thursday.

Australia Plus are advertising 6 games every weekend for the season ,

Expat tv advise that Oz plus is included in their basic package.

cric free has been the best sports stream since old mate at wiziwig went legit... So long as you're maintaining decent download speeds you shouldn't hit too many bumps..

If you're paying for the AFL's subcription, I hope they've sorted out their issues of constantly lagging which annoyed the shit out of me last year whenever I was using it.

Butterfingers to play both ends of the ground this year. Taking after his brother. He is a much more solid mark in defence. Or maybe I should say he actually takes the mark in defence.

Sam Reid is like most AFL players. He’s not a big fan of meetings. He’d much rather be training or playing football than talking football.

So, heading into his sixth AFL season with the Sydney Swans at 23, he’s facing a bit of a dilemma. Perhaps twice as many team meetings as most of his mates. And all because of his versatility.

Reid, at 195cm and 95kg, is the ultimate swingman, capable of playing a role at either end of the ground with genuine effectiveness. And therein lies his issue.

He has split his time over the pre-season between the defenders and the forwards.

This is old news. The swans were preparing him for this last year but like his brother he keeps getting injured. Hopefully he can stay fit as I see him playing more down back in the future as Teddy is getting older.

The kid has great hands but his kicking for goal lets him down.

The ball goes to him anywhere in the forward 50 and i expect him to to fumble it or drop it. In defence his hands are solid and he takes a decent contested mark

I don't mind him down back at all. Or we could trade him. whistling.gif

FREMANTLE coach Ross Lyon has warned against comparing Colin Sylvia's plight to the experience Michael Walters went through.

Sylvia was sent to train with Peel Thunder earlier this month after failing to meet training standards. It follows Lyon’s decision to impose the same sanction on Walters in 2012.

Dockers defender Lee Spurr later predicted Sylvia could follow Walters’ lead and emerge as a leading player in the side.

However, Lyon said Sylvia was judged more harshly as a veteran of the competition, while Walters should have been allowed some lee-way as a young player working through personal issues.

Walters has now rebounded so well that Lyon said he could one day captain the club.

"There's only one common thread there and that's they both went back to a WAFL club after a sustained period of not conforming to the standard," Lyon said.

"Michael was a young player, he had to work through some off-field stuff … but he could end up captaining this club. He's a great trainer and a great leader.

"Col came over as a 10-year mature age free agent, so the expectations were a little bit higher on Col.

"Not by standards but in the ability to be able to do it straight away. So he's faced some challenges. We haven't withdrawn support, we've just put in front of Col what he needs to do … it's possible he could be back."

Lyon was speaking at the club's 2015 season launch on Tuesday morning at Perth's Convention and Exhibition Centre, where Sylvia was absent.

Sylvia also missed Fremantle's intraclub match last Saturday. There is no timeframe placed on when he could be invited back to the club.

He has been training regularly with Peel Thunder since February 9.

Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich said he had spoken to Sylvia several times since he was stood down.

"We're certainly offering all the support we can along that way,” Pavlich said.

"But Colin really needs to go back and work hard and prove that he wants to be back with the group, which certainly right at this point he's showing with the actions that he does.

"The club is here to help him through that but he's got some work to do."

SYDNEY Swans star Kurt Tippett will not play in the NAB Challenge after suffering a lower leg injury in last Friday's intra-club match.

The Swans are hopeful, however, he will be available for round one despite missing up to four weeks of training as a result of the setback.

Tippett, who has otherwise enjoyed a strong pre-season, hurt his right tibia/fibula joint during the intra-club game at Marrickville.

"Kurt has had an outstanding pre-season so we don’t expect this setback to significantly impact his readiness for round one," Swans football manager Tom Harley said in a statement provided to AFL.com.au.

"He is likely to sit out our three NAB Challenge matches but at this stage remains on track for round one."

Tippett's past two seasons have been restricted by knee injuries and suspension, meaning her has played only 26 games since joining the Swans as a high-profile recruit at the end of 2012.

He has focused on building leg strength this summer and had been earmarked to play more time as a support ruckman given his increased fitness base.

The 27-year-old spoke to AFL.com.au last month about the importance of building consistency in his training ahead of the new season.

"Completing a full pre-season just gives you the confidence to be able to go out there and hopefully play every game," he said.

Young midfielder Jake Lloyd has recovered from a minor elbow injury, also out of last week's intra-club, and will seek selection for Friday NAB Challenge match against Brisbane at Coffs Harbour.

Star forward Lance Franklin and midfielder Jarrad McVeigh, who strained a calf last week, missed the Swans' intra-club match but are on target to play pre-season games.

Defender Ted Richards is also close to resuming following a hamstring setback.

The next one will be "land rights for gay whales."

Dockers, Swans to host NAB Challenge pride match

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-03-05/afl-announces-pride-match

Well the AwFL has got it right for once. They have certainly chosen the most appropriate clubs.

Why's that tharae?

Sydney I can understand, but Fremantle? I would've expected Adelaide to be the other team...

I wouldn't be trading him just yet. Let's see if he can get out on the park regularly and then judge him. The kids 23 and Teddy isn't getting any younger. ;)

I'd love him to come good... We have spent enuff money on him. he is at 74? Games so fair enuff to judge him.

he doesn't have the speed of teddy when turning or changing direction...more Like a gangly giraffe struggling to turn and get to the ground.

of course Teddy was no Teddy until he came to Sydney and went through our system...

Saints already have the ANZAC game depicting real heros and hard men. Leave these gay pride and proud to be a hamster games to the interstate teams, they need a hug also.
