No thanks to what? Living forever?

A lot of people may get tired after living 200 years and literally want to die, even though they have the option to keep living.

At least that's one possible scenario of how things can play out.

Yes, "no thanks" to living forever.
I'm not good with swords either.

Out of curiosity, what made you reach the breaking point?

Good question. I thought that guy was unbreakable.

Kudos to your tenacity.

Ladies and germs, I couldn't make this stuff up even if I tried.

Don't thank ME. Thank AI for putting this in my Youtube feed. Thank you, AI !!

And now, without further ado ....  let's cut to the chase. Seth is an ancient Egyptian demonic deity.

While ancient philosophy disagreed on many things, there was broad agreement that the gods were good and the universe a beautiful, divinely made home. However, by the 2nd century CE a scandalous, renegade position emerged that argued that physical reality was created as a cosmic prison by a demonic Crafter - The Demiurge.

In this first episode in a series on the Demiurge, we explore the earliest movement in this direction: (1) the origins of the Demiurge in Plato and (2) How the Israelite god Yahweh came to be demonized and associated with the Egyptian demonic deity Seth in the anti-Judaic polemics of the ancient world.

Probably ... not.

If we live another 200 years, we can look into it further.

No need to wait 200 years. Trust me. One is an Egyptian God, the other is a bodyless personality channeled by Jane Roberts.

Different Seths.

Or maybe Jane Roberts chose that name for a specific reason.

There is no point debating as you will never know.

Care to explain where the dishonesty is?

There's no point in doing so, Sunmaster.  You'd never agree to anything I would point out.  You'd only argue your way out of it.  Both you and I know that.

Of the dozens of examples I could give perhaps the single most example that brought me to the realisation that we aren't ever going anywhere on this topic is your parable of the blind men and the elephant.  The arguments that you provided to show that they're all partially correct, those arguments are, as I said, pure mind fvckery.  Those arguments defied all intellectual reasoning.  The fact that you wouldn't concede but chose instead to twist logic to the point of being unrecognisable in order to be correct, and to be unable to bring yourself to admit that they were all wrong on such a fundamental issue was the final straw for me.  That one was just over the top.

That was one instance which showed me the degree to which you're willing to fool yourself.  To fool ones self is in essence to be dishonest with ones self.  And there's nowhere to go with that.  Self honesty is a prerequisite to acquiring knowledge.  Without it you can't get very far for you'll only end up denying what actually is in favour of what you want it to be.  I'm sure you'll end up turning that around on me.  That's okay.

Sorry you feel that way, but Ok.

All the best on your journey.

Actually I can believe that. I believe the ancients created humans as servants or slaves using genetic manipulation of an ancestor of the apes. I had thought they either died out or left for some reason, but that makes me think that perhaps their creation was so violent that they were either exterminated by early humans or fled the planet and left it as a prison to keep humans contained. I'm not joking when I say the galactic council is going to wipe us out if we ever look like escaping the solar system.

Just look at history to see how humans treat any other human that is stopping them stealing their land ( there is a bit of that going on even today ), and extrapolate that to humans being let loose in the galaxy.

That was a good movie. Pity they got demented in the follow ups. Sometimes less really is more.

I think that's only if getting actually old. If I could remain as I was in my twenties, I'd be fine living forever, or till the sun expanded and destroyed all the planets, as there is always more to learn, and hundreds of new careers to do. I only managed to do 3 different careers, and now I can barely stay awake past 10 pm, so not going to be any more.

Also, I wouldn't have to make do with two attempts at a relationship. I could have thousands till I got it right.

1000s of relationships....sounds like a nightmare to me. 555

I watched the original Highlander movie a couple of weeks ago. It impressed me when I was young and it first came out. It was a bit cringy but still good. Then I started watching the sequels...oh man...so so bad...I couldn't finish any of them.

I picked up the special edition for a couple of bucks in an op shop, so something to do when I have nothing else to do.

The sequels were truly awful. I assume he just wanted to make more money before people woke up to the reality.

I've always wanted a good relationship, but the ones I could have were with very incompatible women and the compatible women were already taken, so I compromised and lived to regret that I did.

If I had a million years to try, I might find the "one".

I might have given the wrong impression though. I didn't mean to actually get married thousands of times, but I'd learn which women were possibles and which to avoid like the plague. I tried twice and both were in the latter category.

Life is way too short.

Because by the time we gather some wisdom about all our past mistakes, then we're too old.

And the Bible story is considered far fetched and unbelievable by these scientists?

But this is Science, with a capital 'S', boys and girls.  So put your trust and faith in that God and rest assured you can believe what She tells you is the real, evidence based truth.  She?  Yes, Science had transitioned to female as soon as it found scientific data to support the idea that sex is not based on biology.

What a bunch of nonsense for stupid people set to celestial music for the intended effect of wowing them.  If Seth is a bunch of woo then science is a bunch of wow.
